Easy bed jacket or shrug

Hi, I am going to have surgery twice this summer, and will be in the hospital. I am looking to make a bed jacket or something similar to wear in bed and sitting in a chair. Any ideas out there?? Something simple would be great.

I just finished the cover item from Vintage Styles for Today (http://www.amazon.com/Lion-Brand-Vintage-Styles-Today/dp/1400080614) and I think it would be an excellent bed jacket as it is very short in the back. It stitched up fairly quickly and is a very clever design that stitched up quickly.
