I have two almost-full balls of light yellow and light green crochet thread, size 10 (I used it for a bookmark).

Do you know of a doily pattern that uses yellow and green? I also have some pink and some "kelly" green....

Thanks!

Here's a good list of doilies:

Find any two color one that you like and use your colors. It's okay. Really.

How about a rose or floral doily? I think a yellow rose doily would be beautiful.

I've seen a lot that I like, especially one from CPC....however, what exactly is "Puritan mercenerized cotton"? Is it a size 10, 20 or 30? A lot of the patterns call for it, but I'm not sure what size it is....???

This is the one I'm leaning towards: http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/RoseDoily2.html (http://http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/RoseDoily2.html)

Melissa,

I think Puritan is a size 10. Take a look at these (http://www.crochettreasures.com/freepatterns/free21.htm) instructions:

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY The Famous "PURITAN" MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Article 40 or DELUXE Quality MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Article 346, 2 balls White. Steel crochet hook No. 7 Approximate size: 18 inches in diameter or; GEM MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Article 35, size 30, 1 ball White Steel crochet hook No. 12 Approximate size: 14 inches in diameter.

The part I've marked in red is instructions for one size, using the Puritan thread and a size 7 hook to produce an 18-inch doily. (The pattern is 29 rounds.)

The part in green uses size 30 thread and a size 12 hook to produce a 14-inch doily.

Since the size using the Puritan uses a size 7 hook, I'm thinking that almost has to be size 10 thread; otherwise, there'd be instructions for a smaller hook. And I've just finished a 29-round doily ("Exquisite" designed by Mary Werst); it measured 16.25 inches with size 10 thread and a size 7 hook...so I'm thinking you'd have a much smaller doily if you worked 29 rounds with a smaller thread. Yes?

I Googled "Puritan Mercerized Cotton" and every pattern that came up used a 7 or 8 hook.
