Yippie! I did it! :) I actually have TWO of them made now.
I just stitched them together along three sides. Then I'll go do the strap next. It's from the 2003 BHG Simply Creative Crochet magazine, there's a pattern on page 20 for a cute little purse. It's about 6 inches square. That blue strand there is my marker for starting the fancy bits around the edge.
It's a lot harder to weave in ends on crochet than for knitting haha
It's done up in white cone cotton and Fiesta Ombre cotton. I'm not sure what color I'll line it with. Maybe just white. I might hav eto wait on the edging and pick up some solid colored cotton to go with one of the rainbow shades. I think the fiesta might be too much to do on the edge too.

Congratulations! The squares are very nice.
So many of the people I teach crocheting want to make granny squares, and I'm going to teach a granny square class at my LYS soon.

Yep I need to learn a granny square! I just learned the afghan stich a few days ago and it was fairly easy. I figure if I can learn more stitches i should do a granny square soon! :) Looks purty!

Granny Squares have a special place in my heart. I love them - my Grandma made all of her grand-children afghans. Mine is all in pinks.. and soft and lovely.
Congratulations on conquering the granny. It's such a versatile thing to use when making purses, blankets, garments.. anything!

Very cute. You should make several and line them all differently for different looks. :D

Thank you so much! :):)
Still fighting off a nasty cold, hopefully I can get the bag lined this week and get the finished photos up. The varigated actually turned out really nice for the edge and strap.

Finally got a photo of it :cheer
It's still not lined in this photo though. I don't like how the white cotton fabric looks as a liner. Just not sure what to use yet, so hopefully this weekend I'll be over my cold enough to get to a fabric shop to compare various colors.
