:*ciam Only 358 days till Christmas not to mention all the birthdays between now and then. :rofl
How about we all make a chronological list of the people we need to obtain gifts for this coming calendar year. Post it here if you like, on your blog if you dare, or just keep it in a secret file on your computer somewhere enquiring minds and fingers won't find it.
Start adding tentative ideas for gifts for that person, or clues as to what kind of gifts would be special for that person, i.e., collects Mickey Mouse stuff, likes purple, "needs" hats, etc.
Set aside some hours each day, week, or month to work on gifts. One way of organizing is to start/make an individual's Christmas gift the same month as their birthday.
The object of the Gift-along is to encourage (and remind) each other to get our winter holiday gifts done before the winter holidays hit with full force. Just imagine how nice it would be to have the time in December to crochet snowflakes for package decorations instead of burning the midnight oil to finish that afghan for Aunt Sophie! :D

That hits everything right on the head. I would love to make some of the beautiful snowflakes I have the patterns for. And I think the list of everyone we need to make gifts for is a great idea also.

I sat down a couple of nights ago and made up my list, I have 12 ppl and plan to make each a bday gift and a christmas gift. That gives me two gifts per month. Though a lot of them are small so I will probably get more made per month, which will leave time for extras that I am sure will come up lol. So here's my list done in order of bdays:
Gina (5-13) Purse
Kell (5-25) Dishcloths, stitch markers, knitting needles, Goddess, stitch markers
Brandi (6-15) Barefoot Sandals, Poncho or top of some sort
Cynthia (7-11) Purse, Poncho and matching bracelet
Jaqui (7-17) Filet Squirrel, Kitchen stuff (towel toppers, dishcloths, etc.) Thread doily for kitchen table
Brandon (8-2) Treasure bag, Game Boy case, blanket
Geno (8-20) Brown scarf, Brown Blanket
Austin (9-9) Gameboy Case, remote caddy
Tom (9-24) Blanket, remote caddy
Rita (10-27) Blanket, purse,hat,scarf
Rah-Rah (12-5) blankie bag, Posh Poncho
Items subject to change if I run across something I like better than what's listed ;)
Edited to correct typos :blush
Edited again to change FO's to red text
Edited again to make some changes to list and update FO's

I have at least 10 Sunday school teachers and helpers I like to do something for at Christmas. Christmas 03 I made towel toppers (with towel!) or hot drink mixes (for the guys). This Christmas I made coaster sets for everyone. I need to decided what to make this year. Maybe more coasters? I'm thinking if they like them, then they'll add them to the ones they've already got from me; if they don't then they're small and easy to give away (sigh.....). I need to think of what design I'd like to do if I do coasters again.
I would like to do something for my parents but my mom especially is not easy to please and is not into homemade things so much. If furry/boa type scarves are still in maybe she'd like that and my dad might wear a nice hat. Dunno. I'm thinking an afhan might be nice - gotta think of the colors though. Maybe an afghan for their anniversary and Christmas ornaments for Christmas?
My mother-in-law isn't easy either - maybe a scarf and hat set, maybe a lap robe.
You see, half my time is taken up just thinking about what to do!!
Since I did little afghan/blankets for my two youngest this Christmas it might be nice to do some for my oldest 3. I thought about doing them for birthdays but since my dd's b'day is Jan 24 there's not time to do one for her.... maybe she won't mind hers being late? Or do them all for Christmas? It can't be a secret though as I don't have enough time without them around to do them.
Perhaps some other things for friends' birthdays.......
That's all so vague, I know, compared to you all who seem so organized! But, if I can at least agree with myself on a gift for the SS teachers then I can start working on them and not have them all to do in November/December.
think think think............ I'll probably come back to this post or make another one with more definite details.........

Karen, your blog link doesn't work.... :(
Here's my list of recipients.
February 13: 2ndGS, 3 year old Tristan ~ February 14: Valentine's Day ~ March 28: ED, 28 year old Rachel ~ April 2: YS, 13 year old Noah ~ May 8: Mother's Day ~ May 26: ES, 25 year old Josh ~ June 19: Father's Day ~ September 1: EGS, 7 year old Nathaniel ~ October 6: My 53rd Birthday ~ October 12: 2ndGS, 3 year old Kodie ~ October 19: 3rdS, 20 year old Micah ~ November 3: YD, 24 year old Amanda ~ December 7: Kids' Dad ~ Decmber 10: GD, 5 year old Brooke ~ Decmber 24: 2ndS, 23 year old Zachary ~ December 25: Christmas
I haven't even started deciding what needs to be made.
I'm hoping people will share links and ideas for gifts so we all can benefit from each other's ideas. I had the container for the Goddess, but I think it got chucked when we de-junked. Good thing it's easy to replace. I might make that for ED out of some exotic yarn...hmmm I wonder how an Eyelash skirt would look on her? Marvie what kind of accessories were you thinking of to go with yours?
Karen, the first step to getting all this done is having a vague idea of what needs to be done and then starting in on it. Your idea of working on what you "know" needs to be done while waiting for inspiration on the other items is exactly the way to go. Often we get bogged down on not being able to figure one out, we forget to do what can in the mean time! :)
Glad to see you all here and please, please, please put up pics as you go along. Maybe we'll open up our gallery somewhere!

Well I actually started the first goddess this afternoon. I was thinking, instead of just putting rocks or marbles in her that I'll use crystals, herbs, whatever things seem appropriate for ther person receiving her, then bless the whole thing.
As for accessories, I haven't thought too hard about it yet, but there are winter and fall deco patterns at the BellaOnline site, done with thread. I am thinking that I'll probably make something similar in lightweight yarns, since I don't work with thread yet, assuming I can find something that will work. I'm going to check out the craft shop on base and see if any ideas come along. Maybe something with beads, you just never know what's going to jump into your basket at the craft store ;)
I'll definately post pics!

hello all,
Wow you are all so organised! I am with karen, my main problem lies in not being able to make up my mind about the gift for each person. So I am just going to make some as this is a nice way of ensuring that I do actually make something instead of just poring over my patterns and internet all the time searching for that exclusive one-of-a-kind gift lol:) Usually my gifts are all made in the 11th hour and thats why I don't have anything to show off as I have already given it away like for example I made Dot's poytail hat for my friends daughter . I wanted to put that up in the Phat hats crochet along:)
So this gift-Along seems to be just what i need to keep me motivated to doing something.
So for starters I am going to be making the birthday sachets starting with january and make a matching doily from Denise's site:)
Hope I last :)

I've almost completed the first goddess. She just needs one more arm then I can post a pic of her. I'll probably be heading to the craft store soon to look for accessory ideas for her.
Here are a couple of thoughts I had while making her....
because I didn't want the rocks I used for weight to shake rattle and roll around, I stuffed it with paper towels after weighting the bottom down.
And,
I didn't have polyfil to stuff her chest and head with so I used cotton balls... it took exactly 13 cotton balls, one each for her breasts, then the rest for her neck and head.
Picture to come later =)

January 3, 2005, 09:24 AM
can't wait to see her! She sounds awsome. I was a bit unsure about having things rattle around in there also. Great idea with the papertowels.
I finished my shawl, but I have no idea who to gift it too. lol I think she will be one of the things I'll put up and pull out if I need an extra gift.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gifI'm wondering if the Goddess was filled with sand or kitty litter if it would be heavy enough for a door stop or book ends..... Hmmmm Wouldn't a pair of Goddesses holding up my books look way cool?
Right now my bookends are a pair of tall jars filled with marbles. Looks cool and works as they are heavy enough....

kitty litter and sand are both pretty heavy in bulk, I would think they would be.... That's such a cool idea. They would look awesome!

Ok, I posted under Crochet-alongs that I wanted to join, but I think ya'll did move the topic here and named it "Gift-along". Great idea! I wanted to join up, too, to be motivated to make gifts all year long, and not in the 11th hour as someone else mentioned.
But I must say, I'm already OVERWHELMED at your lists! ha!ha! Slow down! Please!
Naw, I'm sure I'll have a list just as detailed soon, too. It WOULD be nice to know what my goals are instead of some ambiguous and vague IDEA! :))

Of course you can join us Karla! The more the merrier!
Don't let yourself be overwhelmed. Start out by making a list of Who you plan to gift too. That's what I did. Then over the next couple of evenings I added the actual things I thought I'd make each person.
I organized my list in order of b-days bc I plan to make them bday gifts and christmas gifts, then I tried to sort of split the projects up in my mind by size, such as big stuff will get done in the cold months (no a/c here so no choice on that lol) and small stuff can be worked on when it's warmer.
You just gotta figure out what will work for you =)

She's beautiful. Did you place anything inside like crystals?
MarvieN
January 4, 2005, 11:23 AM
Yep =) There's a heavy rock in the bottom for weight, then papertowels to keep it from rattling, then I put several crystals and some herbs in a linen pouch with the giftee in mind as I did it and placed that inside. The entire thing will be blessed before sending to it's new home. I'll include a little note about what items were used and why they were chosen when I send it.

That's what I was thinking of doing with the one I was planning for bff's birthday.
Course I gotta get ahold of some of those containers... I don't know what they are called so I am gonna have to go look so I can see if someone David works with might eat them cuz we don't eat much chips. I hate buying something just for the container (BUT I am not above it! LOL I've done it before!!!!:rotfl )

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gifThe junk food containers (with junk food inside) were on sale at my local Safeway for $1 each. I got three yesterday and had more than enough help from young people living in the house to get them emptied. They get washed this morning and i'll start working on them soon. Just wondering if I should put one up in the store as part of my Crochet Awareness program! She'd be a nice model for bracelets!
I haven't had much time to decide on what to make for everyone as I'm still making samples for the store like crazy. Finished up a felted bag yesterday (have to go buy handles) and started a diagonal stitch baby blanket sized afghan sample last night in bulky yarn. It's acrylic, but it'd fool me if I didn't have the label in front of me.:D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gifKarla, don't be overwhelmed by the lists. Some of us have huge families and still have fresh in our minds what got rave reviews Christmas morning and from whom.
Pattern surfing helps find things for people. As well as everyone sharing what they are making here to spark ideas for everyone else. Make your list, check it twice..... And then make one decision on what to make for someone. Pick up hook and yarn and you're off! :D

I picked up some sugar n cream cotton today to start my MIL's gift. I'm making her some kitchen stuff. Just started on a dishcloth, this one (http://mysite.verizon.net/vze8mnnp/favoritedishcloth.html) and will probably do a couple more in different patterns. I'm going to make a couple of scrubbies out of the scratchiest acrylic I can find in my stash (best way to use it up right??) I'll do a few towels with crocheted toppers and maybe a set of placemats or hotpads. I'll put it all in a basket (maybe even a crocheted one *g* ) and it'll be her bday gift.
I'm thinking I may do up some slippers or socks for some of the people on my list too, since I'm enjoying making socks so much lol.
I promised my best friend's 9 yo daughter a poncho on the phone last night... now I have to come up with something really great for her lol.
Oooh and I have a ton of hair elastics so I may do up some scrunchies while I ride the bus or watch tv at night as gifts too. Quick and easy ;)
Hubby's requested some slippers/socks... but he had to go and be complicated and say he wants some skid proof stuff on bottom so I gotta figure out how to do THAT lol.
Guess that's it for the moment lol though I'm sure more thoughts and ideas will come to me *g*

Ok here are some of my ideas
afghans for my 3 older children's birthdays. It's going to be a crunch for dd as her birthday is this month, the 24th and the yarn hasn't arrived yet. Oh well she'll enjoy knowing I'm doing it. The other months are March (DS1) and Sept (DS2).
Some kitchen things for my MIL's birthday (late March?)
I'd like to do something for my mother for mother's day. (May)
Something for my parents' anniversary in June. I don't know whether to give them Christmas ornaments then, or an afghan. then the other one for Christmas. I just thought they'd enjoy a box of ornaments they can use later.
Christmas gifts for the SS teachers. I'm not sure how things have really gone down. As I've missed a lot of church maybe people have just not had opportunity to say anything, except for a few people. I don't want people to fall over saying thanks, but I don't want to spend time making things that aren't appreciated, ykwim? So, how about a snowflake ornaments for their tree or window?
Maybe something for all 5 kids for Christmas, but I don't know.
And maybe something for my SIL's and MIL for Christmas. I don't know my SIL's very well though. Gotta think.
Anyway, I guess that's enough to start with, huh? And I'm not the fastest crocheter so I better get busy - my main concerns are these first 2 birthday afghans (unless I chicken out and do them for Christmas to give them all at once). You know it's weird, why am I thinking like this, but I worry maybe I'd get two done, and give them, and then die, and my third child wouldn't get one!! what a dismal thought, what is wrong with me, but I hoped that maybe telling someone would help me. sorry guys.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gifI started a scarf for 2ndGS yesterday and must have frogged it a dozen times. Couldn't find a stitch that appealed to me at all. Kind of a bust day as far as crocheting. Did make a hat for charity, but.....no gifts. :D

OK I have decided on my second gift for this month... I have a friend who has a bit of a temper... and when I saw THIS (http://strngbn.tripod.com/dammitdollpic.html) I decided it'd be a perfect birthday gift for her.... soooo I'll be starting it within the next day or so, hope to finish it by the end of the weekend.

I have my first project done for January (baby blanket) and the other one barely started. I keep getting distracted by other projects I want to try ... it'll be interesting to see if I can get it done before the end of the month.

Well done Faith for getting one done. I need to get my act together. The farthest I've gotten besides ordering yarn for dd's afghan (which I now have decided I need some more {different} yarn as well for it) is bringing the tea towels I have for my MIL downstairs - but haven't done the sewing on them yet! I think I still need some yarn to do her b'd present so better get ordering (well, after the cc bill comes so it can go on a new month).
What I should do is get a snowflake or two done. And, cut and stitch the tea towel.
:sheepjump
:bounce :bounce :bounce
edited to add (it's now evening) - I got the tea towels cut and zig-zagged on the sewing maching this afternoon. I think I will do two towels for her, and the other towels I will give away or sell. (I had got a set with two terry towels - which will each make two towels for topping - and a more linen-y type towel for dishdrying. I will give her two topped towel-halves and the linen-y one, plus some dishcloths.) Now I get to go order some cotton yarn to match!! :danc

Great job ya'll! You've gotten off to a great start =)
Lea, when my son was four he never left the house without his cars or "guys" (any sort of action figure) and I often wished for some way for him to tote them around (other than *my* purse... so why not make him a cute (but manly *g*) little pouch of some sort? I bet he's like my boy was and has to take toys with him when he leaves home lol.

I made a snowflake yesterday! Of course it needs to be washed, stiffened and blocked (and maybe sprinkled with glitter) but I'll do that when I have a good number to do.
I'm pleased anyway, that I have got one done now.
And I have made an order for yarn, which includes stuff for my MIL's b'day present, and some yarn for my dd's and ds1's Christmas presents.

Welcome to the Gift-Along Karen =)
So it's Feb. now... and I for one, completely failed my Jan. Goal. I only got one gift done and it's not even really finished lol.
I have to get on the ball though because I'll be going back to the states for a visit soon (not sure of dates yet) and I want to take along the b-day gifts for May/Jume since I'll be seeing those people while I'm home. Soooo I better get on the ball!

i did not do the ghan i had planned. but i did complete a purse from a different month. i only scheduled 1 gift a month, because i wanted to leave time for my "crochet urges" to do other projects.
so guess i'm 1 for 1!:woohoo

Let's see ... what did I actually get done? I only had two things down for January. I got the baby blanket done, and Ryan's blanket started, but it's just that - started, lol.
I did get a few other things done - a poncho set, and a blanket for my youngest munchkin. Those really aren't in my "gift plan" anywhere but at least it wasn't wasted time.
I'm off to a good start on February - I started the filet crochet afghan (pic of the first bit in my blog) for dh's cousin's wedding the end of this month, and it looks like that will be done probably by the middle of next week, so no problems with that one. Since I didn't have anything else planned that will hopefully mean I can get Ryan's blanket done and I'll be caught up!

I'm a newbie to Crochetville and I want to join too! :bounce
I tried to make my family gifts last year but I fell short since I thought about it too late (and I'm a newbie crocheter). All I completed was a bearghan which turned out to be really cute.
I don't really have a whole lot in mind just yet, I'm still searching. Last year I had problems finding something to crochet for boys ages 2 to 15. I picked up an old crochet book at a used bookstore here in town and saw a pattern for checkers so I think I'm going to make that for one of my nephews and I think I'm going to try and make a crocheted othello game board too.
I'm going to make my mom snowflake ornaments (thread) and prob some kind of wrap/shawl.
I bought a book on slippers and the whole family (ours and extended) just may get slippers this year! :lol
I'm also going to be crocheting a lot of bookmarks this year. Now who and what they are for...I have no idea...but I have a book I'm anxious to start using.
I'm definitely going to have to think this out on paper and then I'll post my list. I think a gift-along is a fabulous idea! Maybe this will keep me more organized this year.

I've been making Book Thongs (http://www.crochetme.com/Feb_Mar_2005/patt_book_thong.html) to give as gifts... like you, no one specific in mind, but they're quick, fun and easy and I think they'll make good last minute gifts too =)

February 21, 2005, 09:26 PM
Woo hoo!
I started a vague list the other day after I posted, and this is what I got so far:
Andy (boyfriend)- He chose a scarf for next Christmas...LOL. made of Noro yarn, it's knitted.
Mom-another doily, or something to do with angels. If I found both in one, that would be awesome. Probably a new scarf too.
Dad-Hat/scarf set. I made him a crochet one this year, and it went over well...I'm going to knit one, so he can have both.
JoAnn-(my sister) a book thong for her birthday, and an afghan for her apartment.
Andy's Mom- Hat, scarf. Also crocheted hers this year, so will knit this time.
Andy's Dad- He gets a scarf, too. He's never been the recipient of one of my homemade gifts (probably because he's DIFFICULT, lol)
Dennis and Becky-(friends) afghan
Steph (friend)-Afghan
Dee-Probably a scarf or hat
Dan and Katie- (Friends getting married this year) Afghan
Probably more book thongs, too. I want to buy some charms to put on them. I made one the other day, and fell in love.
At least for Dan and Katie, the pattern is already picked out, and same for my mom's scarf. I have beads for more book thongs. And Andy, chose his yarn yesterday at the LYS, and the pattern is one I already owned. I feel accomplished a little already :)<img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/dance.gif" />

April 16, 2005, 02:53 PM
Just thought I'd update my progress and ask if anyone else has made any (progress that is?) :D I just checked Kari's blog (bc she has a countdown there and I don't have to do the math) and there are only 253 days left till The big "C" word, not to mention other gift giving days before then, so how ya'll doin'??
I updated my original post with my FO's, I'll be putting those in red text to make them easier to see. I did the brown striped blanket as a b-day gift for one of the people on my list and will deliiver it while I'm staying at their house in 9 days. I also completed two ponchos for the little girls in the same household. I made a pair of barefoot sandals for my best friend. I made some dishcloths and a soap apron which I'd intended for my MIL but I gifted them to a neighbor this afternoon, so since they were given as a gift I felt I could still count them, even if they aren't for someone on the list rofl.
I have a few small things in the works (mentally at least) that I will be working on over the next nine days, during the 13 hour flight to the states, and over the two weeks I will be there... these will be other b-day gifts that I can deliver while there also. Granted, they'll all be early gifts *g* but at least they'll get them rofl. If I accomplish this goal, almost all the bday's will be completed and I can then focus on Yule gifts for the rest of the year =) (Of course I know good and well I probably won't get much crocheting done while I am physically in the States so my goal is already shot ;) but I can try rofl)

I have been horrible about spending "me" time doing my favorite thing which is crochet this past week... but this week I am not going to be a slave to everything around me and I am going to get a few book thongs done at least AND the fringe on an afghan that goes to our fav park ranger at the lake...I'm an afghan, a purse and a couple other projects behind for Christmas.. not to mention I have no idea what to make my mom.. she is a knitter so possible some fancy stich markers and handmade knitting needles ( at least the tops if I can figure out how...
I am marking my calendar now so I feel I have some sort of goal I have to achieve this week...!

did you backburner this "along"?
shhhhh, i did:blush

May 2, 2005, 01:43 AM
Yep you're right I backburnered it! Well, the thread anyway.
Let's see, I'm working along on my DD1's Christmas gift (afghan). That is going OK.
I've decided what to make for DS2's Christmas gift - or rather what colors. I've changed my mind from doing just yellow, orange, and red to making a "rainbow" with the 7 colors. I'm thinking of doing a ribbed ripple. I have the first three colors (red, orange, yellow) already, and perhaps the green I need, so just need to get 3 more or 4 if I want to include indigo.
I haven't started DS1's afghan yet as I would like to finish one of the above first.
I've made only one snowflake out of many needed for Sunday school teachers, helpers and youth leaders.
Haven't started on hat and scarf I am thinking about for my Dad for Christmas. If I do him something I ought to do something for my mother too.
**I did complete the wrist bag for my cousin.** So at least I've done something!

Thanks Marvie! I think the wristbag thing is a good idea, like you said. Unfortunately the poor baby doesn't have her mama around to copy, and I'm afraid that by now she may not even remember her. There are plenty of older cousins and aunts though, so it still works. :)

Hi Anne =) Glad you joined in =)
I think the wrist bag is a good idea for a 2-3 yr old girl. That's about the age they start wanting to carry a purse like mommy, and it's a way they can carry along something to occupy them in the car etc. Another thought might be a sort of car seat caddy, something that can hang off the side to hold some books, toys etc. I'm thinking something along the lines of this one, modified a bit http://www.crochetpartners.org/Patterns/CPpat222.html I've seen another one someplace that goes under the seat cushion of the couch, which is more what I was thinking but this one was all I could find with a quick peek in my bookmarks. You could make it so that it went under the seat cover of the carseat/booster seat and hang down on each side with pockets. Maybe add some flowers to the pockets or something to "girlify" it ;)

I didn't see this post originally, but I've been slowly plugging along at my Christmas gifts and birthday gifts.
Jan: got niece's birthday (Feb.) scarf made and mailed, then made one for her brother just 'cos he's doing so well in high school (N=2)
Feb: made scarves for mom, sis and her hubby for Xmas (N=3)
Mar: began work on sis's xmas or birthday ghan (her birthday is just a couple of days before Xmas)
Apr: still worked on sis' ghan
May: almost done with sis' ghan! made small bag for friend's birthday (will stuff w/ smelly good things; giving it to her this weekend)
May and June: want to finish off sis's ghan; then work on another friend's birthday present--fulled purse--due in early July; and bookmarks for the swap
upcoming summer and fall projects: beautiful jackets from Oat Couture for my sisters for Xmas, if I can get that good at this crocheting; more fulled purses for sisters, niece, and female friends for Xmas; hat for bil for Xmas to match scarf; possibly ditto for nephew, and/or another scarf in his high school colors; scarf for another sis
ultimate project: beautiful shrug for friend but that I have to have lots o' experience before I try
Hmm, that should keep me out of trouble for a while! :P

To be honest, I haven't posted my Christmas List here because it's too darn big and I'm almost embarrassed by the length of it! I do have a list....and ideas what to make for everyone on it....and I have started 1 item on the list but the swaps keep taking priority. I have to quit signing up for swaps!!!! Currently I am part of 7 swaps (Summer Scarf (done/mailed), Kitchen/Bath, Summer Secret Pal, State Squares, Bookmark, Sea Yarn Swap, and Tea Swap (although I have no idea what's going on with this one since it was moved). But they are so much more fun than working on things that won't be appreciated for months to come. I'm not one much on 'delayed gratification' as my hubby can attest! :blush

What a great CAL! Count me in on this one!
Here is my current plan of attack for Christmas:
SCARVES
May - October 1 knitted or crocheted fun fur scarf per month for my 3 neices, 2 sisters and 1 aunt (I detest fun fur so this will be a challenge for me)
AFGHANS
May/June - Grandma'ghan #1
July/Aug - Grandma'ghan #2
Sept/Oct - Step-Grandma'ghan #3
Nov/Dec - Daddy'ghan
Off-times - Dolly blankets to give to my neices with their Cabbage Patch kids (I bought the CPKs in March! Started my shopping way ahead this year!)
I think that covers the list for right now - its really hard to decide what to make for family and friends since I live so far away and am not ever really sure what they could use / really appreciate!

I'm not any further along with my snowflakes for the Sunday school folks.
I'm still at the beginning color of my rainbow ripple for DS2.
I've had a major setback with the afghan for my older daughter. From about a sixth done down to zero. I decided the colors just wouldn't work.
I'm going to order some yarn soon so I can re-start her afghan, and also yarn for the other two children's afghans so I can start them.
I did get a dishcloth and two coasters done for my parents (not for any specific date) . Egad, it's their anniversary soon; better get a card!
I'm not feeling that I've progressed very much at all.
I've added a project - an afghan for a man in our church who has cancer. So that is kind of on the front burner right now, but even with that I am having to wait for some yarn I ordered from here (UK).

Hey ya'll, how you doin' on your lists? :P I updated mine today with a few FO's and made some changes. Sitting down in a few minutes with my stash, going to pull out yarns for things, make a list of what I need to buy (yay, yarn shopping!) and find some sort of place where I can put the yarns designated for the list (so I don't use them on something else without thinking about it!)
I didn't add it to my list, but I think I am also going to give everyone a set of tree decos. At this point I have 12 gifts left to make, so adding that makes 24 sets of things to make and only ..... 142 days till Christmas!

Well I am not doing well at all. I still would like to do the 3 afghans for my 3 oldest kids but I'm not sure I'll manage by Christmas. I think I'll have to skip the SS teachers' snowflakes, especially as one of my kids has been "promoted" so I would have extra teachers to make for. I still might do a few for some special people at church.
I've changed my daughter's afghan to a mile-a-minute pattern because the ripple I was doing is a bit too involved (it's not too hard, just that I have so little time now) and I couldn't get the colors right.

Oh my word - I am so off schedule! Some of the things are just going to come off my calendar because they have passed or I did something else. I think I've nixed the 63 squares afghan for my dad - I'm just not up for making something that I'm going to have to think so much about, lol.
I'm just taking the things off that are done or no longer relavent.

Well...
let's see how I've done:
Ghan is stil roughly 60% done. Been sitting for 2 months.
Something for Stepmom... :rofl How generic is that?
I've decided to make a scarf for her. 0% done!
Ah, I've started the mini totes for my neices and nephew!!
That's it!!
:cry - Can someone reschedule Christmas this year?
Not a long delay, just a week or two!
Ok - here's my Christmas gift list:
Afghan for Dad
Something for Step Mom
Shrug or Poncho and matching hat for Sis (6yo)
Afghans for kids (3)
Something for DH???
tiny totes and hats for my neices & nephew (4 total)
Throw for MIL
Hmm - I think that's it.
I do have DH's birthday & anniversary coming up in Sept, but I've already
made his anniversary gift. :D
