Kristina,
sure go ahead and knock your socks off make beautiful hats! I LOVE hats.
A good majority of my hats are done free form you could say. I am not always to good at following a pattern so I just make the pattern up as I go along. I have also made alot of Dot's hats (http://bythehook.blogdrive.com/). She is the Hat queen if I do say so myself :bow
I love her hat patterns and I love to make her hats a few times over using different color yarns for different effects.
I say it should be a scrap hat along....goddess only knows I have a ton of scraps!
Ro-

P.S. Kristina, I've added your site this morning to the ring but I think you may need to go in and change your code a little bit to include your site ID # I've emailed the code to you....let me know if you need any help.

Oh I am going crazy! I wanted to do the bag-along(almost finished there just need to add the handles) ,then I saw someone posted a pillow-along and I said that I would do that, and now this Hat-along! I just gotta make a hat and not any hat at that I want to make 3 or 4 of Dots hat and this is one way I am sure that I will finish atleast 1 lol:) Thanks for keeping the hat patterns coming!

But prior to committing to these I had also said that i wanted to do the 63 squares but in thread , alas my mil couldn't find where she has kept my book and she off to Dubai visiting her daughter:( and i also very badly need to finish the sock-along :)

I think I am under the attack of "crochetalong syndrome!"

Great. So, I will compile a list of hat patterns jic anyone needs them. The button is in the post above, and I will create a list of hat-headz participants. I will also create a gallery (or something) so we can post all our pictures.

Have fun, and thanks Ro.

Hi Ladies,
just checking in quickly after a long 11 hour workday. I saw there are a few new sites waiting to be added to the Hat Heads Unite webring. Before I can finalize and add these site you must place the webring code someplace visable on your site or blog.
I am so excited about the hat_headz along cause you all know hats are my favorite thing to crochet! I may even try my hat at a free form funky hat this go around.

Anyhow...have a good night.
As soon as I get home from work tomorrow I will check the status again of any new pending members to the webring.

Ok, I added all those who joined the Hat Headz-along...and I fixed the link in my post to the webring. Please DO join the webring as well. After all, it was Ro's baby that sparked this crochet-along....

I'm so glad that everyone is excited about this. I finished my first hat today and will add pictures and gallery after work tomorrow.

I'll get my blog updated tomorrow. I've just spent 5 hours or so working on a shawl for a co-worker of mine. It's a gift for her before her next dose of chemo. I'm 3-skeins into it, and I don't see an end in sight... <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/banghead.gif" />

But, it will be beautiful! (And I'm so glad that I picked up another F hook the other day since both the shawl and the hat I'm working on require it.)

This is an important update. If you have already signed up for the hat-along, please remove the button and any links to the Hat Headz Hat-along. The hat-along is now called <a href="http://crochetmyway.visualrhetoric.org/phathats/" target="_new">Phat Hats</a>. There is a new button too: <img border=2 src="http://crochetmyway.visualrhetoric.org/phathats/phca.png" />

Sutty, if you want to spice up this button, please do. :)

Well I like making hats so much I used a hodge podge of patterns and added my own twist and came up with this. I hope it is ok to have two hats in CAL. I used cotton thread for this one. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v239/southsue2u/IMG0190.jpg I think I can use this as a original pattern so I will probably post it on my website later. My husband said it reminded him of a hat from the past like the 20's or 30's.

I feel like I had a productive weekend, this is what I've finished so far.

http://home.comcast.net/~kaylafisher/c82daf3e1e25.jpg This was made using Lion Brand Microspun left over from my dtr's poncho. I used the "Hat Huggers" Girly Butterfly pattern. Only problem I had was the butterfly turned out like a flower instead.

http://home.comcast.net/~kaylafisher/c9eb842d5db0.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~kaylafisher/332bf71dbb5a.jpg Both of these were done using Red Heart yarns, and I just kinda fudged my way through making them, going more on shape than anything, and frequent attempted fittings on my dtr.

http://home.comcast.net/~kaylafisher/744bc21ec0f2.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~kaylafisher/c4cb67063af4.jpg These are both kinda the same thing as the rainbow hats above...

Tonight I swear I'm going to sit down and actually make a hat from a pattern, maybe another Girly Butterfly one?

Here is the link for instructions to join the Phat Hats stitch along. crochetmyway.visualrhetor.../phathats/ (http://crochetmyway.visualrhetoric.org/phathats/)

She said to contact her and let her know you want to join by leaving a comment at the Phat Hats site or by posting here.

Then, if you have a blog or website, you save the Phat Hats button to your own server and then upload the button onto your blog/website. Then, you would link the button to the Phat Hats site.

Then you get started making some hats, and take pictures and share them with all of us!! :knit :camera :woohoo :))

I finished this knit hat in the middle of October but couldn't put up the pictures because it was a gift for my sister (and she'd be sneaky enough to ruin her own surprise) and wanted to wait until she recieved it.
The pattern is Coronet from <a href="http://www.knitty.com" target="_new">Knitty</a> and the yarn is Red Heart Artist Print varigated. I'd have loved to do it in wool.. but she is allergic to animal fibers, so I was stuck with RH.

Rebecca,

Great hats!!! Is that a ninja turtle?? That is such a clever idea to crochet something for the face. Great job! :yay2

Mouse,
I love your Coronet!!! I have been eyeing that pattern for about a week now. I attempted to make a swatch of cable. I really, really, want to make that hat! You did a great job!! Your sister must just love it!! It is beautiful!! :yay2

Thanks! No it's not a ninja turtle, it's a hunter's face mask. You really can't see the detail on this pic but he wouldn't stand still for very many shots. It only fits his face, because I used short rows to sculpt it to his features.

I adore that Coronet also!!! I would love to knit some hats but so far I haven't been able to figure out dps.

Thanks again Rebecca! You mean the top one right? You did miss the post, but here (http://p084.ezboard.com/fcrochetvillefrm7.showMessage?topicID=294.topic) it is again! I made my hat with some variations to the pattern, due to the super bulky yarn I used. But oh my gosh, you would not believe how warm it is. I just wore it to a football game friday nite where it was oh say, lower 50's weather-wise and my head stayed toasty warm all night. Definately make it with wool if you have cold winters.

Rebecca, Great Hats! I love them both. Your kids are cute, too!

Knotty, how pretty! Where did you find the pattern? I may attempt cables soon.

Here are some I've done. In the first pic the hats in the back are knit. I figured I'd stock up since the kids always seem to lose their hats. The baby hats are crocheted.

This hat is part of a set for my mom.

Pridemom-

the pattern for the hat I made is called Coronet and you can find it in the archives of www.knitty.com. I was terrified of doing cables because they seemed so complex.. but they are actually really easy and fun. Coronet is great because the band is one continuous cable and you can really just get into the repeat pattern and learn how to anticipate your cable twists without counting rows

Hey Ladies and Gents-

I know I am a bad host to the PH crochet-alongs, so to prevent your work from not being shared, I am allowing you all to upload and post your own pictures to the gallerr. To do so just go to here (http://www.visualrhetoric.org/gallery/index.php) and register. Then you can add your hats to the Phat Hats gallery. Many hats are already there, but if you notice that yours is not, just add it. I hope this helps with the PH motivation. Keep crocheting and enjoy your Turkey-Day.
