Hello everyone! I have been lurking around Crochetville for quite some time now. :blush I am new to crochet and I am looking for a pattern to make a backpack for my boys for school (they are 8 - twins). Something big enough to carry their books folder and lunch box. Everything I have found is for something like a purse and i am not good enough to figure out how to make it bigger. Thank you for your help. :D

I did find this backpack, but I think it is too girly for boys...maybe you could modify it, or decorate it with some boyish applaques or fridgie patterns......

This one looks like it can easily be made a little bigger......

Go to...

third row...first pattern...Hobo Backpack.
This one looks sturdy and is made with nylon so it won't be as "stretchy"...

This one is made of nylon cord. You can find it at the hardware store or the camping section at Wal-Mart.

Ladies you ROCK!!!!!!!!!! :yay I usually design my own patterns, but this time I was having some serious crocheter's block. You have given me some wonderful patterns to work with and with two to make I can have a little diversity. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! :manyheart :hug

RedFuzzyDice,
Back in '95 I made a messenger bag from Jute. It was all SC. You make a rectangle of 30" x 15" (I think My daughters are using it and I don't have it to measure right now), then you measure 2/3 and start the side pieces. When it is finished you have a durible item that will last. The pattern will work for a Rucksack or book bag if you alter the dimensions. The Shoulder strap I attached to the sides and the top was the flap portion of the folded rectangle that made the front, back, and bottom.
I hope this was helpful.

That is very helpful. I think I am going to make one for myself. (I carry around way-too-much stuff :blush) Ooooo I think I have some jute...hmmmm, now if I could only remember where....:think
Thanks again!!:hug
