View Full Version : Seeking fairly simple doll...

In a fit of...(fill in the blank) I've decided that I'm teaching Othello this year instead. I teach with a lot of emphasis on staging, and I've found that while students don't like being forced to *act* they have less of a problem if they're moving puppets or dolls around. (This is all so you don't think I'm totally nuts--not sure it's working!) Hamlet, I did with a series of simple sock puppets, but I really want to 'upgrade' to dolls (about 8"-10" or so) for Othello, esp since the cast is so small.
Lots of the sites I've searched have doll *clothes*, but nothing approaching what I want: a pretty simple humanoid doll pattern that can be customized for characters pretty easily. (Add a skirt: voila! it's a girl; add pants and a beard, voila, it's a boy). Please tell me someone out there can help me with this quest?

Here is one that would work up quickly, you could whip up a cast of thousands in no time

Crochet Me (http://www.crochetme.com) has an Amigurumi Dude (http://www.crochetme.com/amigurumi-dude) that could be customized easily based on yarn colors.

I found some really cute *dolly* patterns on www.roxycraft.com
They're super cute... and the possibilities are endless to "dress them up"
I'm currently making a hula girl :)
