View Full Version : Ladies, I need help finding a pattern for a wedding shawl ...

... for ME!:yay I'm getting MARRIED!
I worked out my gauge with Aunt Lydia's #3 in white and a #3 steel hook.
Actually, I want to make a stole. I need something around 160 st's wide and 220 rows (in dc)
More or less is cool, too - this is just a starting point.
Filet, motif, table runner, tablecloth, bedspread patterns - doesn't matter. If we can fudge it to work out to be about 2' x 6' for a stole - it'll work.
I am open to any and every suggestion! You guys know me - I love everything hand made (and old-fashioned on occasion). Will you share your favs PLEASE!!!
I don't really have anything in mind. This is one of those "When I see it, I'll know it" things.
I guess I do have one thing in mind - I'm thinking about maybe a thread pattern that'll still look great in #3 cotton.
Thanx!

I love this one by Anna called the Elegant Lattice Stole (http://lullabiesandlace.com/elegantlatticestole.html). You could easily make it wider if you like. Here is her thread (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42839&highlight=elegant+lattice+stole) about it. It is worked up to take size 3 thread...hope you find what you are looking for. :D

I love this pattern I did a short test drive on it once. You get the mesh border as you work the pattern. now it is triangular :( but so pretty

That's really pretty, Darski. TY!
Triangles are ok too. We can always fudge the pattern and make it straight! lol
I was looking at this one http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/RosePanels.html It's 116 st's across and it works out to 16 inches which is good too. After a border it'll grow a little.
Maybe Katchkan has something in mind. This is so bad - I'm turning into a threadie. lol
It doesn't have to be a shawl or stole pattern - it just has to be beautiful!

I like these:

I think you could do a Lover's Knot and make it rectangle:

How about a motif? Find one you like and just make a bunch in the color of your choice, such as all white.

RoseRed, there is in Interweave Crochet Spring 2007 a pattern for a "Deceptively Simple Stole" which I think is stunning and elegant.

Congrats RoseRed!!! I'm sooo happy for you!! I got lucky when I got married a couple years ago, my best friend happened to have knitted me a really lovely, soft shawl for Christmas the year before. After I picked out my wedding dress I came across the shawl. I thought, "No way." Took it out to Mom and Dad's house (they were keeping my dress since my then-fiance was moving in with me a few months before the wedding) and held it up to the dress and it was a perfect match!!!

Congratulations! :yay This is my contribution... I think this pattern would be gorgeous in a cream or white thread!
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=86324.0 (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=86324.0)
I intend to make this one, too, not with thread, but maybe a sock yarn. :) If you don't have a pattern book with the spiral motif (see page 2 of link), there's a free pattern here: http://www.kaleidesigns.com/crochet/patterns/archive/coas008.html (http://www.kaleidesigns.com/crochet/patterns/archive/coas008.html)
Anyway, I hope you find the perfect one (& show us pics)! :D
