I have an idea for a tote bag that I would be able to carry my crochet stuff around in. I also do leather craft so the top and bottom would be made of leather the middle would be canvas with a crochet net kind of pattern around it. The over all shape is that of a sailors duffle bag. I plan on stamping a pattern in to the leather and punching hole along the edge of the leather to join the crochet to. Does any one have an idea for the net pattern?

How about a simple one...let's see what I can write up at work with nothing around to test it on...:lol

First round: SC in each hole in the leather, join with a slip stitch to first SC.

Round 2: Chain 3 (counts as first dc-ch 1 throughout), **skip 1 SC, DC in next SC, ch 1. Repeat from **, join with slip stitch in 2nd chain of original ch 3.

Round 3: slip stitch to ch 1 space. Ch 3, **skip 1 SC, DC in next SC, ch 1. Repeat from **, join with slip stitch in 2nd chain of original ch 3.

Repeat round 3 until desired height.

Round 4: Ch 1, sc around, join with slip stitch.

Then somehow hook it up to your top piece?

Mind you...I may be pulling this from memory cells from the shrug pattern I found here, so if I am, I give all the credit to that designer!! :yes

You MUST post pictures when you make this! It sounds like it will be amazing!

I think Heather's idea for the net sounds great!

The net would be awesome made with leather strips or cord or maybe even hemp to give it a more masculine look. Love knots would be cool too in leather. I've seen a purse done that way.

I can't wait to see the finished result.

You migh try fooling with this pattern:

If not, you might find something else at CPC:

Well I just wanted to let everyone who voiced interest in the finished bag know that I have found some leather and cut it to size. I am still looking for the canvas to line it with. I have many request from friends and family for shawls so I have been very busy.
