One of my girlfriends has asked me to set up a booth with her at a local craft fair. Do any of you have suggestions as to what kind of things sell at craft fairs? I'd love to do it but have no idea what to make. Thanks for any ideas!

In my experience, I would say blankets definitely! The fairs around here (specifically Lazy Dayz) crafters who knit or crochet seem to sell tons of blankets. I also see things like purses (felted) and scarves.
Have fun with it!

its very regional.. something that sells for me might not sell for you .. i will say a staedy thing for me has been shawls.. i dont know how big you want your projects to be.. but .. that is what does sell very steadily and well for me .. i havent had much luck with blankets..

Try bookmarkers, magnets for the fridge. Things like that. Small things seem to see the most. You can also do them in Holiday themes.

Maybe some lip balm holders with a long strap to wear as a necklace, or cell phone cozies, things you might not see everywhere.

I live in a college town and "girlie" things do really well...purses, funky scarves, cell phone cozies, in girlie colors with lots of beads, fun fur etc

You know what else sells really well is flip flops with the fun fur crocheted on them. I live in Apple Hill and those are a hit. Also baby blankets, baby sets, hot pads, bookmarks, lapghans, scarves, mittens and hats.

I second the lip balm holders. I think they're easy to make and I would buy one. I don't know how popular the craft fair is, but I think small quick projects would be most profitable. Not a lot of people are willing to pay for what hand made items are truly worth.

i think cutie lip balm necklaces is cute as well..... for one, you know how kids beg for things, this could be something inexpensive that will make many mothers glad they came by your booth :yes3
walmart has a set of girlie lipbalms for $5
i'd also go with big & pretty thread flower pins - they are a HUGE accessory for spring this year :)

Dishcloths sell pretty well usually. You can make good colors with sugar n cream yarn, and sell them for $2 a piece. You sell one and you've covered the cost of the yarn.

I think the trick might be variety. Things for younger girls and things for women. Also, I know that when I go to a craft fair, I'm drawn to little things that don't cost much. And that'll pull me to a stand. Flowers are fun, maybe some little bags, lipbalm holders, etc. Maybe do some little bags and separately sell flower pins and offer a discount if a person buys one of each - so then she can pick what color pin she'd like on her bag.

Cradle purses sell big also at craft fairs! I know I've seen several patterns on the web. This one works up really quick http://irenecrafts.com/patterns/cradle_purse.htm
Here's another but no picture: http://www.knitting-crochet.com/crochet/crapur.html
I'm sure if you did a search on :google you would fine more patterns.
Good luck!

I made some long skinny scarves with homespun and fun fur. Also, I think kerchiefs woud sell well. I also would suggest small items, like hats, crocheted flowers, maybe baby sweaters. I would love to sell some shawls, but I would barely be able to get the money for the yarn back. Keep me updated on what you are going to do. I am tossing around the idea of entering my first craft fair in June. I will be keeping notes about what I do on my blog.

Those make up so cute. I made some for craft shows last year the went well. I have a couple dozen made up hope the go as well this year. I went to the General Dollar store and found some little dolls for $1.00 about the size of the little Kelly dolls. I made most of my purses in white and trimed them in the color the doll's outfit is.

I am just getting ready to leave for my craft show rt now. I have been selling a lot of ponchos in all sizes. We are even making ponchos small enuff for baby dolls. Can not keep them on the hangers. We sit and make one while we work. Goes in an hr. Also selling hats and baby sweaters. Towel toppers are popular just don't do the seasonal thing. People want to use them all yr round. Good luck. Gotta run
