I forgot about this one here, (http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_5435328,00.html) a hairpin lace hat. It calls for knitting the rest of the hat. If you don't knit I don't see why you couldn't sc or hdc the rest of the hat.

Hairpin lace is a lot of fun, and you can create some really interesting things with it. I have done edgings, chokers, and even a doily with hairpin lace. I wish my books weren't in storage I think I have an extra hairpin lace book in my stash of extra books. But alas everything is in boxes so I can't be much help to you. I have every size frame they made right down to a 1/4 inch wide frame.
Check on ebay for possible patterns. It was used a lot in the fiftys. Look in the edgings and the doily patterns on the free sites you have already been given. You might find something there. Good luck.

Is there a photo of the finished hat? I can't see one. :angry It seems everytime I find something on this site there is either no photo of the finished item or a small blurry one. I'm a visual person so I have to see it! :hook

I was just wondering if anyone else is having or did have a hard time understanding tutorials on how to do the hairpin lace? I have attempted several times and I am just about at the giving up stage. I know I have been told that it is not as complicated as it seems but you sure could have fooled me.

Did you try the video link I mentioned above? It made much more sense to me than the pic tuts and descriptions in other places. Oops! I forgot this was a differnt thread.

If you go here (http://www.sykospark.net/hairpin/) you can find the video link I mentioned.

Okay the video was perfect to get me started. I am going to practice and get it down pat. I want to be able to do the Lotus top soon from Stitch Diva. Has anyone done it that can say how hard it might be to do? You guys are wonderful thank you.

I decided to break out my hook and hair pin lace tonight as well. I'm getting the hang of the lace part. Looking at the design and in Crocheting School Book I have that shows some lace joining techniques I don't think it will be that difficult once you have the hang of joining. It looks like how it's joined creates the shaping. I want to make hairpin lace skirt.

I started a CAL here (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58527) if anyone is interesting in joining me on a hairpin lace journey.

So, did ya, did ya? Did ya make it? I recently found this and purchased. I hope to learn this stitching and do/make for Spring/Summer '08. Really looking forward, this skirt is sexy, cool, gorgeous.
