Hi Everyone! I am pregnant with my second child and would love to make the baby a round ripple. I've seen so many beautiful ones that you all have made but this will be my first attempt. We are not going to find out what the baby is so as I have a lot of girl things for my daughter, I'd like to make some boy-colored things in case. When I do a search for round ripple patterns, I usually only come up with regular ripple afghans. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There is a spider man round ripple here: Spiderman Round Ripple Afghan (http://www.angelfire.com/tx5/angelcrafts/patterns/spidermanroundrippleafghan.html)
And I am sure you could change the pattern and colors to make it for a baby boy. Or perhaps you would like to keep the theme? Up to you...

Look for Aggie May ,,,she has a wonderful EASY RR pattern . You can probably find some of her posts on the round ripple crochet along. Or do a search for her name. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

See if this works.

If you would like my simple version of the Round Ripple, please PM me and I will send it to you.

The pattern does not tell you a colour scheme but leaves you to decide on your own but you are most welcome to copy any of mine.

Some of these have different centres to the pattern but at least they show you how much you can vary the colour scheme.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Have fun.

:cheer Well, I have now sent out a load of PMs but I am not sure if I caught everyone who wanted the Simple Round Ripple Pattern.
I had to delete some PMs to make room for more and in the process, I may have lost a couple of requests.
Maybe you can e-mail me if my PM box is full.
Have fun.

I just finished working this one today and it turned out perfect. The only correction I found in the pattern is I found on Round 5, the beginning * is in the wrong spot, you need to Skip 2 DC, 1 DC in next St, then 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, etc.

Are there any corrections to the pattern or does it come out right?

Here is the pattern I use for my round ripples.

There is a correction in row 3. Here is a link to the correction, along with other tips and tricks.
http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29245

This is the pattern I use, and it works up fast and easy.
If you read each round ripple pattern, they are all basically the same. The main difference is the number of shells.

That is quite interesting. Row 5 of that pattern is the same as the sewonfire pattern, I work it just as it is written, and have had no problems at all with it. :scrachin

:think Do you realise that all of the Ripple Patterns are exactly the same?:think

:clap It is just the beginnings and the wording that are slightly different but the outcome is the same in each of them.
The pattern I wrote was just done with less rows of instruction so it is less confusing to the beginner crocheter.
The colour schemes are just personal preference and, as has been shown on this Message Board, the possibilities are endless.

:hook The secret is to learn to look at your stitches and not the pattern because each row is really the same.

As long as you SK the correct stitches every row and alternate the 2 rows of Shell and one row of V Stitch, it all takes care of itself.

I wish I could sit with all of you, in my living room, to actually show you just how easy and un-mysterious this Afghan really is.

The people who have mastered this Afghan, have gone on to do more, regardless of which pattern they have used so keep up the good work and we will eventually have the world flooded with beautiful Round Ripples of all shades.

I am yet to see a Round Ripple I did not love.

Have fun.

The only difference I've seen in the different patterns is the number of shells done. Some say 2 rows of large shells and 2 rows of small shells (v-stitch), and others say 2 rows of large shells and 1 row of small shells (v-stitch).
I prefer 2 rows of large shells and 1 row of small shells (v-stitch). The points seem to lay flatter that way...at least for me they do.

The only pattern I have seen with a mistake is the sewonfire pattern. That mistake is in row 3.

In a pattern supplied to me by Aggie May, if the number of points is changed from 12 to 9, you only have to do large shells (2dc, ch 2, 2dc) for every row. Of course that changes the look slightly, especially for very large RRs. This makes the pattern extremely simple to follow since each row is the same.

I knew all of them were basically the same, I was just looking for one that didn't have any corrections to make, I wanted to read a pattern just as it was written without having to look all over the place for the correction.

The only one I've seen that has a mistake is the sewonfire one.
All the others are error free (all the ones I've seen, that is).

Hope that helps :)

I'm having trouble with mine...it's ruffled and looks like a darn flower...:( Has anyone else had this problem with the spiderman RR? And could I use hdc instead of dc?

Aggie May
September 16th, 2007, 06:06 PM
:think Duckie, you need to stop increasing, even if the pattern says to increase.
You can do this by working one row of large Shell and one row small Shell until it flattens out.
You may have to unravel some rows first but not all of it.
I am not familiar with how the Spiderman pattern is written but all RR patterns are aiming at the same result.
Can you PM me with some more info if you want to re-start the pattern you are using.
Have fun.
