Hi,

I plan to convert a knitting pattern to crochet. It's a very simple wrap that is constructed like a small ruana - two rectangles sewn together halfway. The sewn part is the back and the other strips make up the front. Anyway, I want to use a nice crochet stitch that would be very flattering and drapey, not bulky (I don't need any more bulk!). I'll probably be using dk weight yarn. I'm still a bit new to crochet and not sure what to use. :think Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance! :manyheart

I think that one of the keys to good drape in crochet is to use a larger hook. Do a few swatches with different hook sizes and you will see what I mean. Also, don't use a pattern that is too textured, like post stitches, or too dense. And yarn choice has a lot to do with it too. If the yarn is stiff to begin with it is going to be harder to get good drape. You could always wash the swatch and see if it changes. Hope this helps.

While it doesn’t answer your question directly, this might help you:

Thanks Faydwyn and Monael, for your helpful suggestions. Now that you've pointed me in the right direction, I have a good starting point for my project (and many others to come!). :cheer
