Hi all,
Just got my peaches n creme grab bags. I bought 10 and now have tons of thread yarn. I have never crocheted using thread. What types of things do you usually do with thread yarn? Any favorite beginner patterns? Can you make baby clothes with this yarn?
Thanks in advance :hook

Go to crochetpatterncentral.com and look at the bookmarks - those are good patterns to start with since they're small and work up quickly.
If you have size 10 thread, get yourself a size 6 or 7 steel hook. If your eyes aren't as young as they used to be, start with lighter color thread.
I personally like to make doilies and such; I think I've seen some Annies Attic books of frilly baby dresses made in thread. I think freepatterns.com has an overblouse in a pineapple pattern in thread, and I've seen some lovely show-and-tell shawls here made in thread. There are all sorts of holiday decorations than you can make. A whole new world of possibilities!

I'd start with some snowflake ornaments, which can be completed fast so you can see how your work progresses. Give you that little kick of confidence before you start on something larger. :)

My favorite kitchen towels and disclothes are made from three size 20 or two size 10 threads held together then just follow your favorite pattern (or use all doubles or something.
My newest, favorite pattern is this reusable grocery bag. http://www.crochetme.com/reduction-tote-bag
It worked up so so fast. I didn't do the pocket b/c I was using all one color and I couldn't stand to use it anymore, lol. But I'm going to start a second one and switch up the colors and include the pocket. The bottom panel was my first try at filet and I was amazed that it wasn't more complicated!
If you have size 3 or 5, they make great coasters!

I just bought my first thread today so I can try to make some hacky sacks. Somebody else has a post going right now collecting hacky sacks to send to the troops. I'll wait and see how mine turn out before I agree to participate.
I found several patterns at www.crochetpatterncentral.com.
