Know what I'd love? - a pattern for a black mantilla. In very very fine thread, perhaps as fine as size 80 tatting thread.

I've been hunting, on and off for years, and it suddenly dawned upon me that this would be a good place to ask!
I used to have one at school - I think my mother must have discarded it when I married and moved away. I asked her about it years later, when she had come to live near me, but she couldn't remember it. Well - it WAS over 40 years ago that I left school..... :lol

Does anyone know where there is a pattern to be had? Either for sale, or free online?
Foray into nostalgia, perhaps, but why not - I want one, and now I have the time to sit with fine threads and make one - just need the pattern!

Here was an answer to a similar request a while back,

There's a vintage pattern on e-bay

I would think a lot of the lacy shawl or stole patterns on crochetpatterncentral.com should be adaptable to thread.

I think that any shawl worked in a bigger size thread, if it s worked in finer thread it ll adopt its size to fit the one you want :) you can always do a swatch and compare lengths :)

Whatever pattern you pick, remember you'll probably have to adjust it for width and length.

Here's a shawl that's lacy and worked in thread already. It might work as is or you could add to it for the length you want:

Here's another:

You'll find many more here that might work for you:
