I've just finished a few thread snowflakes with beads, I've never stiffened anything before. I've heard that 1 part glue to 1 part water works great, but once it dries won't that leave my shiny beads dull with a coating of glue water? Should I buy the "real" stiffening stuff to do these?

This person has had a thread snowflake site for years. She discusses what you're asking. Everytime I go to her site, I end up spending too much time reading it.

One suggestion might be using PVA glue mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with water, since it dries clear and it is non-yellowing.
