Hi all. I have great confidence crocheting with yarn, but I am afraid of thread, I must admit. The first project I tried with thread was a disaster! But I do want to learn all those beautiful, delicate things! Do you have any suggestions for some fairly easy beginner projects or patterns to boost my confidence? I would appreciate any suggestions you have!
Thanks,
:book Raquel

Bookmarks would be a good thing to start out with. They're not 3D (well, most of them aren't) and rather smaller.

This one doesn't look too bad:

I hope whatever you chose turns out great! I :heart working with thread. ;)

bookmarks are a good place to start-
you need to practice for awhile-it is not difficult-
some of the bookmarks are quite beautiful-
i have also made some crosses for friends who are chrisitian

Yes, try thread crochet with bookmarks......they're fairly easy. Once you get the hang of it you can try adding beads to them. I learned to crochet using thread. I once suggested to a fellow forum member to try using embroidery floss (the ones you use for cross stitch projects). There's a pattern for a thread flower using it. I'll try to look it up for you. :hook Here it is.....

good luck!

Try the size 3 thread first, makes it a little easier to do.

This is a doily pattern that I have done a few times. It works up quickly, the directions were easy to follow and it's small enough that it doesn't take forever to get it finished.

It looks really nice placed under candlesticks :)

I just started thread crochet 2 weeks ago. I love it. Rachel, thanks for posting the pattern for the bookmark. I can't wait to try it.
