Some friends have been asking if I will :hook a winter hat for them.

Lots of free hat patterns on CPC: http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/hats.php

After you look through that directory of hats, here are children's hats: http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/hats.php

and babies' hats: http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/baby_hats.php

Hopefully you'll find something inspiring for your cold friends!

This is my favorite hat pattern this year! Quick, easy and cute!

It hurts my wrist to do all those puffs, so I substitute the puffs for bobbles made with 4 dc. One skein of Vanna White's new acrylic worsted weight yarn will make one hat. Or do the crown in one color, then use scrap yarns for the three bobble rows, then do the band in the main color again. I've also made this using one skein of Plymouth Encore (an acrylic/wool blend).

What about this one from Garnstudio in warm Eskimo yarn - croched and knitted - one of my favorites this winter.

this is my all time fav hat pattern, I sometimes miss out the band of sc and put in dc or even dc skip one dc for a nice effect!

I have made this holding two strands of dk or four ply together or which a chunky yarn, I would find out if one of your hats fits them and use that as the measurments, I sometimes leave out the last row of increases and then its more of a beanie hat....as I said, its my all time fav pattern! :) I must have made 20 or so of these before! :)

I'm doing something different this year, I"m doing ear band/muffs. Easier to fit and keeps ears warm too. You can see an idea of what I mean by clicking on the link in my signature line.
