My hubby came home on my b-day a couple days ago with my present. 6 skeins of yarn - 3 dark green and 3 medium green. Now what to do with it?? We just repainted one spare bedroom with a light green paint. So I can see an afghan for that room. Just not sure which pattern. Maybe Jacobs Ladder? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA
Update** Last night, hubby helped pick out the pattern for the yarn he bought. It is a clover type pattern in Afghans for all Seasons (can't remember the exact pattern name). And...I told him that this would be HIS new afghan for the couch. He was all so happy 'cause a few weeks ago he said the one he is using is starting to look really used and worn out. Now that I put two and two together (his hint about new afghan and yarn in colors he likes), I truly think this is what he was hoping for. Thanks to everyone for helping me see that HE is the one that wanted the afghan and to have him help pick out the pattern.

The mile-a-minute (MAM) afghans are easy to do and make a beautiful afghan.
Good Luck!!!

I'd get some cream color to go with it and make stripes in double crochet. You don't even need a pattern. Just chain as wide as you want, then single crochet the first row to give yourself an edge to work from. Double crochet from then on.

Your hubby knows what you like. People only buy me yarn if they want me to make them something. Ask him to help pick out a pattern (an afghan for two, maybe?) Also off white would be good to add. Good luck in your search.

I like the ideas of adding another color to it. And having hubby help you choose a pattern. Maybe even a Camoflodge (sp?) yarn would work with these greens.
Have you done a round ripple? Those are popular. I haven't done one but they look nice.

thanks for all the input. I knew I could count on this group to put some ideas in my head. Next time I head to Walmart, I will see if they have a creamy type color to go with the green. Then hubby and I will sit and go thru some of my afghan books to search for a pattern. He is really good at picking patterns for me. Thanks again!!!

You are so lucky to have such a thoughtful hubby. The last time anyone ever bought me yarn was in 1973. Our family was doing gift exchange by names to reduce the expense. (I have 7 siblings plus their wives plus their kids, so you can imagine buying gifts for one and all.) My younger brother gave me a single skein of on-sale bile green yarn. Must have cost him all of 35˘. I found it amusing at the time.

Have you thought about using a Aran color. I made an afghan not too long ago using a sage and aran colors...looks great.
Let us know what you use!!

This afghan immediately came to my mind:

I know the one in the picture is done with scraps, but you could make some very pretty stripes with the colors you have and cream.
Maybe start dark, then light, then cream, then light, then dark, then light, then cream, light, dark, light, cream, light, dark, light, cream.....
:lol :lol Sometimes I can't help getting carried away!!
Just a suggestion to consider, though! :D
I'll look forward to seeing what you make when you decide!
