awww! that's too bad... :no

i think it could be fixed too, but instead of just gluing it, i drill a tiny hole in each side and pin it also....

Thanks everyone. I will email Bill. David says it looks like it will fix up easy. So I'm:fc
I had been working on something when the phone rang, I sat it and the yarn and the big stitch book down to get the phone :phone the boy grabs it all up and throws it in the floor so he can get up in the chair and look out the window. :irked Unfortunatly, the book landed partly on the hook:ohdear . Had it not landed that way it would have been fine. I didn't :tryme , cuz he didn't mean to break it he's just a boy who gets excited about things. I just :cry .
Thanks everyone for your kind words and suggestions. I felt silly for being upset over a hook. Oh and hubby said even if we fix this one I can still get a new one.:woohoo

Oh Man! Sorry to hear about your new hook. I think that's why I am hesitating so long to get one of those gorgeous hooks. If mine would break I would be really upset!:hug

I have to agree with Beth, this was an abnormal situation where I should have thought before leaving it where I did. I do think had it landed any other way it would have been ok but somehow when he picked them up it slipped into the book partways and when it landed it put just enough stress on it.

This is what Bill said:

Kari,

You might be able to fix it. I use superglue for such things. Use the
thinner kind, NOT the gel.

Make sure the pieces fit together perfectly, no splinters separating the
pieces. Critically important!

You might rub candle or similar wax on ONLY the outside surfaces of the
shaft to prevent the glue from sticking tightly there.

You will have to apply a small drop of glue to the broken part, then hold
the pieces perfectly together until the glue sets. You might grease your
fingers with vaseline to permit the glue from sticking too tightly to
them. Or... use thin rubber gloves. There's only one chance here!

If this went well, let it set for a while, then use a fairly fine file
(maybe nail file) to smooth the shaft and remove any glue from the
surface., then sand lightly with very fine sandpaper. If you have
lacquer, apply it lightly, then a coat of wax and polish with a cloth.

Hope it works. If it's a good joint, you will hardly see the repair.

Good luck,
Bill

That's awesome! Quick response too! Another plus for dealing with Bill =) Now, if you can just find time to sit and hold the pieces together long enough ;) Seriously though, sending out healing vibes for your hook =)
