The newest forum software upgrade has given us a new feature in our global signature settings to make it easier to make sure that all signatures fit with our signature guidelines.

Prior to this change, our signature guidelines were:

As a courtesy to all of your fellow villagers, please limit your signatures to take up no more space than the equivalent of 10 lines at a size 2 font (including spaces between lines), which is about the same as 2 inches on a regular computer screen. No individual line should use anything larger than a size 4 font. If your signature is larger than this, we may ask you to adjust it.

But we ended up with a large number of signatures that didn't follow these guidelines. To reduce the number of complaints we receive about excessive signatures and the amount of time we need to spend asking members to fix their signatures, we decided to use this new feature to let the forum automatically put our signature limits in place.

Here are our new signature guidelines from our main guidelines post (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27599):

As a courtesy to all of your fellow villagers, signatures are limited to a maximum of 10 lines at a size 3 font.

This allows signatures to take up a little more space than originally intended, but we felt it was the best compromise available for us all. For those of you who were using a size 4 font, we've found that a bold size 3 is almost the same size.

Now that the settings for maximum number of lines and maximum font size are in place, you will not be able to make changes to and save your signature if you exceed these limits. You'll need to edit your signature and make sure it's no longer than 10 lines (including blank lines) with no font larger than size 3. Then you'll be able to save your new signature with no problem!
