Anyone know of a similar pattern crocheted? I looked on Crochet Pattern Central and only saw one that was a whole snowman stuck on top of the hat.

I haven't seen one. There might be one in a book or older magazine.
Maybe you could try and wing it. ;)

Yes, it sounds like Franklin, the blog author, just winged it. I really don't have a baby to make it for...although my son is getting married in July! I just wanted to have it on file for some happy time in the future.

the picture is a ways down the page, the 13th or 14th item.

this is just a picture of a crocheted snowman hat. A little different of course, but still cute as a button. I'm working on making one right now. If it turns out any good, I'll write the pattern down. I should have time to do so. The snow is coming down in gobs right now and I really can't do much. I've already shoveled one time this morning and will have to again soon. Anywho, Have a wonderful morning!!!!

I make alot of themed hats for kids and what I use alot is the pattern for Bev's Bear Beanie (http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/bevs-bear-beanie.html) just for the basic hat and then once you have the basic hat you can decorate it however you want. Eyes are just circles and the nose can be made like this:

ch2
4sc in 2nd ch from hook
work 1 sc in each sc around.(4sc)
Continue until piece measures 1"
increase round to 12 sc by working sc, 2sc around (12sc)
1 sc in each sc until nose measures about 3" long
