Okay, if no one wants to, that is fine.

I just found out from my best friend (Kari) that her husband (Kevin) is fighting his 2nd battle with a brain tumor. I was not able to be there for her during his first round of cancer, and I am so glad I am here for her NOW!

Kari and I have known each other for almost 20 years now, and we haven't seen each other since we were 17 and 18. We lived in a foster home together and were more sisters than friends.

We just found each other a year and a half ago on the internet, but have yet to meet each other's children. We have to yet see what each of us looks like GROWN UP! LOL None the less, once we found each other, it seemed like the years lost had just re appeared!

Anyhow... I tend to mumble! LOL

I was hoping (like I said before, ONLY if you WANT to) that some of my friends here at Crochetville would help me put together comfortghans for her 4 children. Dylan, Dalton, Devin and Kayla. They are ages 5-12. I want to personally suprise her and Kevin by making these for her kids, and give them to them face to face. The problem is, I just do NOT have the time to get them done on my own. I would really love to tell them how some people I know helped me make it possible for me to come see them.

Once again, this is only if you want to! Okay?? Please let me know here, or you can pm me.

Thank you so much.

He does have a caringbridge site, and I will find out from her if I can share him with you all. Thank you!

THank you so much for helping!

No problem I couldn't seem to explain myself right but she had a bunch of people ready and quite a few squares had been done so this seems like it would be just perfect for that. :hug God Bless you for wanting to do this I'll say prayers.

hello Yarn Feather.
As it has been mentioned I had started plans for some comfortghans and the plans got cut off. I have some people sending me their squares still and I'll be putting them together. If you PM me your address I'll go ahead and send the completed afghans to you. We have 12" squares, so the size would be 4'by4'. Is that alright? I've already recived squares from Chatty and she made a beautiful pineapple squares in purple fleck! And I have a heart pattern in yellow. So maybe we could put those in the girls afghan? Let me know what you think. Depending on how many people are still sending me their squares I may be able to put two together. :hook

The MIL apparently doesn't realize what the comfortghans mean. I'm so sorry she's being so interfering. :angry

:hugs to you, your heart is in the right place, even if the MIL's isn't.

I'm glad you are going to do it anyways. It's not about the MIL, it's about your friend/sister. Comfortghans are a GREAT thing, maybe she's just jealous cuz she can't do something like that. Some people.

Anyways, I'll help if you need it. Make some squares. Let me know colors or whatever :)

Devins favorite color is red and black, Kaylas is pink or purple, Dylans is red and black or red and blue too and Daltons is green he said....lol-his used to be blue!

This is what I got from Kari this morning..... so pretty much dark colors for the boys, and girly girl colors for my Kayla.... Thanks!

I am sooooo glad you have decided to make the comfortghans anyway. :clap That was my thought when you first said it but did not think it was my place to say it to you. Glad you decided to do it. :)

My :2c... I think the squares we are sending to Amber are too large for small children and they are not necessarily appealing to children.

My suggestion is make 6" or 7" squares.

I will be glad to make up a few. Just let me know what size. I'm sure I have some kid friendly yarn in my stash. :)

Hi Heather. I'm glad you are doing it anyway. I guess 12" squares would be pretty big for children. I'm afraid I won't be able to send you any 7" squares but I wish you well!

I wanted to share this with you all about Kev and how he is doing.... posted by Kari on her CaringBridge site.

Hello!
Kevin finished his 2nd round of chemo on Tuesday. He did good with it and did not get sick at all. He was a little bit more off balance on Monday but is doing better today. Next week he will have bloodwork in Fairmont.
It was so nice out today so Kevin was out in his garage trying to find something to do! Hes been so bored lately.
Kevin and I planted some flower seeds that Dalton brought home from school for Mothers Day. I dont have a green thumb at all so I hope they grow! LOL Dalton was so proud to bring those home.Weve been talking about planting some flowers but today was the first time weve gotten out there to do it.

I have 11 done so far and one on the hook, 2 for Kayla and the rest are for the boys. I see that there should be enough squares for Kayla's comfortghan, so I'll be making some more for the boys. I'll have them mailed out before the 30th.

Here is the latest post from the caringbridge.org site that Kari uses...... Thought you would all like to know how Kev is doing...

"Good evening!!

There hasnt been too much going on the last week so thats been kind of nice really. Kevin did have bloodwork on Friday. I hope the counts will still be good like they have continued to be. He went to the eye doctor on Friday too. They said he has few blood spots behind his eyes but they said chemo can do that. Im pretty sure diabetes can do that too. Last Wednesday Kevin was very off balance. He woke up that morning and had fell about 4 times. We went to his moms and dads and he almost fell backwards off their front steps. He didnt get hurt at all-thank God- but it scares me when he does that. His balance is not too good in the morning at all.
We got a phone call the other day from the school and they had wanted to help us out some so they brought over a gift card to Kmart and some left over food they had from a banquet. That was so thoughtful and we TRULY appreciate that. With me not working that really helped us out so I thank them for that!
Thank you for everyones continued support and prayers. "

Check my blog later for pics of Kev, Kari and the kiddos! Im working on it now..... will be up by 5-16am. :c9

Here is the latest from Kevin and Kari's CarigBridge journal... wanted to share it. Keep you good thoughts a coming!

"It seems like I havent wrote on here for awhile. Kevins doing good but was very tired today. He slept in later than normal and ended up having a headache which worrys me every time he gets one.
He finally got to go fishing the other night. I think he really enjoyed that. He didnt catch anything though but still had fun. Dylan, our 6 year old, was the one who caught a small walleye! I know the kids had fun too but I think we need to get more fishing poles so there isnt arguing over who gets to fish first! LOL
Last Tuesday Kevin had to get 3 more teeth pulled because they were bothering him real bad. We had to get it okayed through his oncologist first though. So he had Kevin have blood work done to make sure his counts were good which they were. Radiation sure did a number on his teeth which they said it could since he had it aimed at his head. I know that bothers him though.
Today Connie, our neighbor, mowed the lawn for us, which we really appreciate. That really helps us out. Things like that we are truly grateful for. Last week Kevin did get out there and mowed a little but I know its a little hard on him.
On Friday the 27th Kevin goes back to Mankato for bloodwork and to start his 3rd round of chemo. I will keep everyone posted on how hes feeling during that time.
Thank you once again to everyone for all of the prayers and all of the things everyone has helped us out with. Big or small its always appreciated!!"
