View Full Version : 5/23/05 Finished Project Tinkerbell

This is for my 3rd youngest granddaughter Elizabeth. She is just a delight as all you have to say to her is “Hello how are you “ and she talks on and on for a minimum of 10 minutes. :blah :phone
This is a treat for me as the other older grandchildren give one word answers to my conversations. “ Hi, fine, yes , ok, no , maybe, nothing , fine , Bye :think
Elizabeth is 7 and sharp as a tack, she will inherit a lot of my stuff. :hug http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v674/TampaDoll/Tinkerbell/1x2Elizabeth.jpg

Those colors are so pretty! I, too, don't think I have the patience for an afghan like that just because of all of the weaving in ends! Do you just find a good picture and print it out on your graph paper? That's a great idea.

Yes, the background is purple (lt Violet). I am using Barnet Baby coordinate.
It is going to be a total surprise. When She called to thank me for her Birthday gift, she took about ten minutes or more to tell me that she is doing her room in Tinkerbell. This kid was estatic over the fact that she got a tinkerbell trash can. Can you beat that?:lol
I am glad you guys like it. I took a picture of Tinker and used a software I bought called Instant stitch. It is basically for cross stitch, but I am able to use it for crocheting if I make the graft in black and white. The color copy you see is on graph paper that I started out with.
I will post as I go along.
Thanks again.

I sooo agree with that! What amazes me is how fast you go with it. Someone said they'd still be on row 2 of Dora, I'd be barely a quarter of the way through the princessess 'ghan, lol!

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your warm and fuzzy praise on the afghan.:day
As for the edging, it is very simple. I sc in any sc and then I chain 5, skip 2 and sc in next sc. That is it. I do this all the way around the first row.
Row two: If I change colors, I sc in any loop with new color, chain 5 then sc in next chain.
If I do not change colors, I do row one then slip stitch 2 times in first loop, ch1 sc then chain 5 then sc in next loop.
It is really the simplist way to edge something. If you like, you can add to the number of chs. ex: row 2 sc chain 6. or you can make a double loop in each corner. That is what is so nice about this edging. You can do anything you want.
Hope this answers the question.

Hi to let eveyone know, Elizabeth loves the afghan. According to my daughter, she always has it with her. Infact, I was told she has taken it to sleep overs, So sorry Aelita, no luck getting it off her.
Sahmlock- I crochet over each dropped color no more than 6 and no less than 3 stitches. This locks in the yarn and also makes less ends to weave in. I aso think it makes the back look less messy.:hook
