Ok, so my fiance popped the question on friday and I have a beautiful ring I want to take care of. I'm afraid to wash dishes with it on so I was thinking if any of you guys know of a pattern that would fit? I was thinking like a tiny purse I could easily put around my neck that holds my ring. I was going to make a pattern but then thought maybe you guys know of a pattern. Why reinvent the wheels (or am I just being lazy :devil? )

I don't know of a pattern, but it made me think of my late aunt that was like a mother to me. She was always taking her engagement and wedding ring off to was dishes, clean, etc. Her husband told her he bought it for her to wear and he wanted her to wear it. So she did. Thirty years or so after his death she was working in her yard and someone went in the side door to her house and stole several rings and other pieces of jewelry. They did not get her engagement ring though because she was wearing it. She was so glad they didn't get it. I was just happy that she didn't walk in the house during the burglary. :)

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for. This is a coin purse but it might be good for a ring http://hometown.aol.com/crochetmaryellen/page4.html

There are lots of amulet and treasure bags here:

I put my ring either in my jewelry box or on my night stand in the ring holder. I do it at night too since it's emerald cut and has sharp edges. After scratching myself in my sleep a few times, I decided it was enough. LOL

I have a little glass that sits on my window sill above my sink. Whenever I wash dishes or have to put my hands into food, I put my rings in the glass. It's clear so whenever I look out my window, I can see my rings sitting in there and remember to put them back on when I'm done. Just an idea, it works for me. I've actually put my rings in my pockets and have forgotten them and they've gone thru the washer & dryer. The glass jar was/is my solution.

This (http://www.yarncat.com/4x4wristpouch.html) is a cute pouch from Yarncat. You could make the drawstrings longer.

Just thinking... I know you asked for a crochet pattern, but, it may be easier and faster to create a cup out of polymer clay with a hole in the back, that you could screw to the wall above the sink. My great-grandmother did something similar and it worked for her.
just an ideal..........

Congratulations!!
I wear rubber kitchen gloves (you know, the yellow kind) when doing the dishes. I don't have to take off my rings, my manicure doesn't get wrecked and my hands don't get rough.

I don't know about crocheting a case to put it in, but with limited counter space - I put a hook in to my cabinet or wall - depending upon the room - to hang my rings from when I don't want to have them on. I have an opal that shouldn't be in a lot of cleaning solutions.
