If you have it set up so that you are always logged in when you visit Crochetville (that is, you've checked the Remember Me box, and you haven't manually logged out when you leave the forum), you may find that you are not logged in the first time you visit today. This is because I have implemented a small fix that forces Crochetville URLs to contain www.

So if you usually visit crochetville.org, today you will be forwarded to www.crochetville.org and may not be logged in. Simply log in again, checking the Remember Me box (if you desire) and you will be logged in again.

This is a one-time log in issue that will only affect you the first time you visit now that the change has been made. And, if you usually visit crochetville with www in the URL, it will not affect you at all.

The reason for the fix is that if you're logged in on a page with www and visit a page without www (and vice versa) you may not stay logged in. So now, all pages will have www, and you'll stay logged in.

I'm having a different sort of problem and it's occurred about three-four times already in the past few weeks. I will log in successfully and remain active, but about 15 minutes later, my log-in disappears. I am able to log in again but it doesn't hold until I ultimately totally exit the internet and come back in.

I've had that problem too. I leave the window up, clear out all of the cookies/temporary internet files (under "internet options") and refresh the page or go to a new page. That seems to take care of it.

That is built into our system. Your session will last for 15 minutes (or 20, I'd have to double check to be sure) after your last activity (doing anything anything at all on the forum, like viewing a new page) and then you will be logged out automatically. If you don't want this to happen, when you log in, check the Remember Me box. Let me know if this works for you, and if it doesn't, we'll troubleshoot further.

Please note that if you check the Remember Me box and exit your browser without logging out, you will be automatically logged in the next time you visit (or anybody visits) from your browser on your computer. If you want to use the Remember Me box to keep you from getting logged out during a visit, but don't want to be remembered for next time, check the Remember Me box when logging in, but when leaving, click Log Out (in the blue navigation menu bar) before closing your browser.

No, I don't walk away from the computer. I remain active on C'ville, clicking and posting and have never been inactive for more than a few minutes. Never 15 minutes.

It's possible that you have a corrupted Crochetville cookie. (Instructions for deleting cookies follows.) After deleting cookies, close all browser windows and then reopen your browser. Then log in again (with the Remember Me box checked).

To delete Crochetville cookies in Firefox (on a Windows PC):
In Firefox, you can delete only Crochetville cookies, leaving all other cookies intact. On the Firefox menu bar, choose Tools > Options. Then click the Privacy icon. Under Cookies, click the Show Cookies button. Your cookie folders will be in alphabetical order. Scroll down until you get to the Crochetville folder. Highlight the folder named crochetville.org and click the Remove Cookies button. Then click the Close button, then click the OK button.

Deleting cookies in Internet Explorer:
Unfortunately, finding and deleting specific cookies is not easy in Internet Explorer. The only thing I can tell you how to do is delete all your cookies, but will unfortunately delete your cookie info for all the sites you visit. To delete them all, go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Cookies. I wish I had a better solution for IE users.

Remember to close all browser windows, reopen your browser, and log in again with the Remember Me box checked.

If this doesn't work then please tell me what operating system and browser (including version) you are using and we will troubleshoot further.
