its the granny shell pattern, but in stead of crochet in the round/sguare
it is crocheted side to side......or if any one has a formular to make a granny blanket that goes side to side

I think you just have to make a foundation chain of multiples of 2 plus 1 and ch 3, do a dc in the 4th chain from the hook, chain 2...skip 2 stitches and do 2 dcs in the next 2 stitches, chain 2 skip 2 stitches and just keep going like that on the end do 5 chains and then do 2 dcs in the first chain 2 space....just go back and forth like that....am I explaining this clearly for you? If you want to make 3 sitches for each block then everywhere I said 2 do 3 and chain 6 to begin the new row. It is sort of like doing filet crochet but alternating a dc block with a mesh block and then working the mesh over the dc block in the next row.

There are lots of granny and filet patterns at CPC

I have some blocks that I made in rows side to side for a charity that makes afghans. Check out the patterns in their website:

www.halfknits.com (http://www.halfknits.com)

These make 6 inch squares, but you can make any size you want. Here are 2 patterns from halfknits. I love the Tiffany block. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h229/texasredhead54/sonafghanclose.jpg
