A friend of mine has asked me to make a baby afghan for her granddaughter. The shower is in 2 weeks. She wants me to make it out of Baby Clouds - to be honest, I don't like working with it... The afghan pattern on the Coats and Clark website for Baby Clouds is done all in FPDC and BPDC -- two stiches that I positively hate.
I was wondering what patterns others have used for this yarn. Also, It needs to work up quickly. It needs to work up in the little bit of time that I have at night after the kids are sleeping.
Thanks for the help!

I have a pattern that I use with that yarn all the time. The blankets work up so fast that I can get them done in a couple of evenings. Basically, it is an alternating pattern of sc and ch, then on the next row you do the same thing with the sc going into the ch on the row before. It is easy to find the ch spaces since you can feel the holes with your fingers. i believe all you need is an even number of stitches across the row. For some reason the number 71 sticks in my head for the beginning chain, but I could be wrong; I just usually make it a good length for a baby. I make the body all one color and then add a simple sc border with white. It is so soft and fluffy that everyone loves it.
Good luck!

I use the little victory baby blanket pattern available free at lionbrand.com.. I just reduce the starting chain to 66 and it works beautifully and very quick.

Don't like that yarn either. Try V-stitch. Works up really quick. Gotta be crazy to work with Clouds and do Fpdc and BPdc

Here's two of the blanket's I've made with RHBC and the Lionbrand Little Victory Pattern. the pattern mainly uses a V-Stitch as someone else suggested using.

Thanks. I've done that v-stitch many times before and didn't even think of it for this yarn. That will be perfect I think. :cheer

Personally, I think you're crazy to EVER to Fpdc and Bpdc... even if you're using RHSS! :lol But man oh man, I'd rather stick the crochet hook in my eye than do that stitch with Baby Clouds!

I made this from the label. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/projectsheet?pid=e03056 is the same pattern I think. Worked up quickly and easily.

I did a round ripple with Baby Clouds, and finished it in about 6 hours total work time (not straight through 6 hours!). I used a K hook and whipped right through it.
I used a blue shade and a blue/green shade with white in between and it came out really cute.

That's a queen size bed it's laying on, btw, so it came out pretty large. I think I used two skeins each, approx. of the blue and the blue/green and one skein of the white.

I did a ripple too, but I found the holes a little large. Here is a pic. smaller hook would help.

It was only 24 rounds and grew quickly. I think I spent less than two weeks on it, crocheting when I could between other projects.

I've done a double-strand single which is nice and thick!
I've also done triple then single which make a little puff on both sides.
the stripe on in the back is the triple/singe and the others are the loved front/back post doubles.
