Hi again!

A friend of mine knows a gorgeous two year old who is battling Stage 3 cancer, and we want to crochet some hats similar to some she found on the internet (I can link to them if need be but I wasn't sure about the rules for that at the moment).

They remind me a LOT of "regular" chemo caps, but they're openwork, almost filet crochet looking.

I think this might work for what she's looking for if we use a baby yarn BUT, it needs to fit a two year old and neither of us have any idea how to adapt the pattern. http://www.yarncat.com/GirlyHat_ButterflyPin.html

If anyone knows of openwork chemo caps that would be toddler sized (she's a petite to average sized two year old), OR knows of a way to help us adapt one of these patterns, it would be GREATLY appreciated :manyheart

Thanks!!

If you want to use that pattern, I would just skip row 4 and 5, and then stop after 3 rosws of the Rows 6-10. I would then skip row 11 and go on to 12 and 13. You may have to count to adjust the shells and add or remove a couple of the SCs from row 12 to even it out.

I make hats all the time.

Chain 3
Row 1: 9 - 12 DC in first Ch (depends on the thickness of the yarn I'm using), join with sl st.
Row 2: 2 (DC, Ch) in each stitch around, join with sl st
Row 3: *DC, Ch, DC Ch in next stitch, DC Ch in next* around. Join with sl st.

Continue with the basic round until the circle is the size you want.
Then just DC/Ch in each stitch until you have just about the length you want.
Finish off with 2 - 3 rows of SC as the band.
