I always make afghans for my siblings when they marry.
I am behind but I have no clue to what to make my brother and his wife.
They are "city people" and not "country people". I don't know if that describes them for you or not ... but that is just what is my mind for a description.

I am looking for something of a more modern design ... I dont know what else beyond that.

I am thinking of using the colors Black, white, grey, and deep purple. Those were their wedding colors also.

Does anyone have any idea's or patterns to link or share or even just show a picture of???

I am a little desperate right now ...

thanks in advance!

Those lion Brand patterns Granny Square posted are great! My favorite is the first one, the Easy Does It blanket. That would look great with white background, the bars in gray, and the little squares in black and purple. Or you could use different shades of purple for the little squares, and black for the bars.

I was going to suggest making a solid color, white or gray, afghan using squares like these I have bookmarked

I like those for the sleek look. You could also checkerboard the colors.

But I like the Easy Does It better! Or a couple of the other Lion Brand ones, like the Circles to Squares i think it was.

Check out image 7 from this book, Mason Dixon Knitting. It is knitted, but has a cool asymmetrical modern-art look, and could (more) easily be done with crochet. ;)
