Hi Crocheters!

I was flipping through a crochet magazine tonight and saw a scrap afghan where you don't weave the ends in when you switch colors. The result is a fluffy fringy lookin thing that has me intriqued. I tried googling for it but didn't find anything like it. Thats when I googled "crochet forum" and found ya'll!

I'm fairly new at crochet. I'd say a little above beginner. I learn new stitches pretty well when its explained step by step.

Anyway, I've got a bunch of scrap yarn and would love to make this type of blanket. Anyone seen this??

Thanks!
Rayna

Not sure this is what you are asking for. But, I just got this book the other day and it has scrap afhgans.

I saw something like what you described. It can be made with a "wonder ball" of yarn. You take all small balls of yarn, any colors, 2 yds (+/-), tie them together, leaving 2" ends. Wind it into a ball. When you get a ball big enough to work with, you crochet in rows, when you get to a knot, leave the ends hanging out. This becomes your "right side" (RS) of the piece. Every time you come to a knot, hang the ends off the RS (could be front or back). When you're done you have a fringey side and a smooth side.

Hi Rayna. Have you ever heard of scrumbling or freeform crochet/knit? Go to knotjustknitting.com. It will give you an idea of what it looks like. You can do crocheting/knitting. All freeform. It really looks great. I just crochet any scraps of yarn in any whichway I want and toss it in a basket. When I have a bunch, I can overlap it, etc. and make an afghan or whatever.

Great tips guys!!! I'd thought about that ball idea before but didn't want to weave all the ends. Never thought about just leaving the ends out till I saw the picture. I'm gonna try that scrumbling thing too!!! Thank you!!!
