Hi, I am looking for 2 patterns, and I saw one in a book on ebay, It is the 13th pattern down on this auction, a colorful green, pink, purple and white stripe, with a ridge running the length of the Afghan, I need to know the directions, or where I can find the directions, or the name of the pattern.....I wrote to the seller but the book was sold and she could not provide the pattern to me.

This is the 2nd pattern, and the smaller picture shows more detail.....Thanks for any help...

Even if you don't win it now, at least you will know what to look for! There is always the Buy It Now option. Sorry I don't know the source for the other pattern but it is a good one! I can see why you want it.

This is a little late but I am new here and just came upon your post. :)
I looked at the first one, love the looks of it, and it resembles the
Jacob's Ladder Afghan at:
http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/jacob.html
and this one at :
http://www.craftingranny.com/patterns_archive.asp?ArticleSource=46
although the main pattern is different, it looks to be the basic idea of the afghan shown. Maybe someone could tell you what stitch was used in pic you had linked to.
This type of afghan in the links above are pretty old as I did my first one in the early 70's. Actually have one one my lap right now. :D
Hope this helps in some way.

Anyone know what the pattern name is for the 3rd one down with the little blue bear sitting on it?
Did anyone figure out the name of the book?

I think the blanket is done in the Popcorn Stitch, but it puffs out more because it's done in a bulky yarn....... If you can't find the Popcorn Stitch pattern by doing a search, let me know and I'll send you some links, as there are many.....

The seller won't reveal the name of the book but she has at least another one for sale. I prefer to buy elsewhere, even if it's used and I can get a better price for it. I don't want to pay $20.00 + for a book that I may use only one or two patterns from........I have the Crochet Bible, and I do Love it for the amount of patterns in there...... I can't take My husband on my shopping trips anymore as he always asks " What about the yarn in your craft room?" LOL I can't go in a store without buying more yarn........The yarn will outlive me :yes

The bid on the book went waaaaaaaaaay beyond what I would pay........Now she has them for BIN but it's still too pricey for me..........I look on Amazon for books and they also sell used for the same books so if they're in like new condition, I buy them.
I just finished making 4 Afghans for my son to take to Thailand for his new Inlaws.....I've been making hot pot mats, covered hangers, and my "new" project is the hanging dishtowels with the tops crocheted.......They are so inexpensive to make, I don't cut the towel, but fold it so it's thicker for use.....The most expensive part believe it or not is the BUTTON~~!!!! I bought some novelty buttons, but they run anywhere from 50 cents to over a dollar each........:eek.

That seller always has great patterns, but it is very frustrating that she never gives the names of the books... I suppose it's so people won't go looking elsewhere to get them cheaper.
I'm pretty sure the book you're looking for is this one (http://www.amazon.com/Big-Hook-Crochet-Carol-Alexander/dp/1592171249). Looks like you can get it through Amazon sellers for almost half of what it's listed for on Ebay. :D

Kristy, you are a good "detective" :cheer That sounds like the exact book, and Amazon has some brand new for 10.00 :clap I'm ever so grateful to you for the heads up.......;) :yay for Kristy

It looks like shell stitches and then working around the post of dcs. Make a base chain and then work shells (2dcs, chain2, 2dc) in the third chain from hook, Skip 1 chain and do a Dc, skip one chain and do another shell...continue like that ending on a Dc.
2nd row-chain 3, make a shell in the center of the shell of the previous row.....now for the tricky part....work a double crochet AROUND the dc of the previous round...here is how
http://www.freepatterns.com/content/content.html?content_id=65
This creates the ridge...now just continue making the shells and the fpdcs (front post double crochet) for as long as you want the afghan to be. Hope it helps you out!

:think It appears that the afghan is worked from side to side. I believe the ridges that run the length of it is made by using front post double crochet and back post double crochet. Hope this helps.
