The simpler, the better (I'd like to do nothing but half double crochet stitches, in fact). I was thinking something that fits like this (http://www.lionbrand.com/stores/lionbrand/pictures/bk4k-0612011a.jpg).

I have done the UBW hat on http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php
I believe the requirements are two strands of yarn.....I just used bulky yarn. In fact my husband and I wore them while shoveling the 20" of snow we had the other day
