Seeking a summer hat pattern

The sun hurts my eyes and even when I wear sunglasses, the sneaky sun peaks over the top and gets me anyways:(. So I need a hat with a brim, but that won't be too hot. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I guess I would have to use cotton yarn?? Can't crochet with thread anymore because of hand problems.

Hats with sunglasses tend to give me a headache although the sun in my eyes gives me even worse headaches. So I designed this SUNGLASS VISOR (http://homepage.mac.com/coxsalida/Personal18.html) to wear with my sunglasses. It can fit snug or looser against your forehead. However you prefer. It simply slides onto the 'arms' of your sunglasses. The pattern is free and very simple.

I'm attempting this hat from Berroco. Not thrilled with the yarn, I find it needs more than they recommend, but the pattern, I'm sure, is usable with a different yarn.

I made a very easy one from Gayle Francis Designs called Beach Blanket Brim Hat. Nice wide brim. Sorry I don't have a picture of it. I used a cotton/hemp yarn.

You could make the beanie part of this Lion Brand Brimmed 'Straw' Hat (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/ckc-hat.html) then add the brim part of this Sun Hat (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=48984.0) from Craftster. You must sign into Lion Brand first. Or simply make the Lion Brand Brimmed 'Straw' Hat (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/ckc-hat.html) completely. Either would look great.
