:frogThe doctor I work for collects frogs. I thought it would be really fun to crochet a small frog.
Does anyone know of a fairly simple pattern? I've only ever made blankets and scarves and the occassional beanie. I'm a little scared to make a stuffed animal but I really want to make him a frog!!
Thanks,
Rayna

The owner of this blog (http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/)offers a free pattern to make a cute frog. You'll find lots of other phenomenal crocheted animals here too. Superb work!

Here's a cute arigurumi frog off of the lion brand website. I have my own login over there so I'll just paste it for you. Am I allowed to do this?
Here's the link if it'll let you in: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/70595AD.html

I absolutely LOVE the tree frog. I wonder if I could do it. The directions look easy enough to understand....just gotta teach myself some new stuff, like what the heck a magic circle is. This would be so fun to try!!!!!

Excellent thank you. I found another description but it didn't work right when I tried it. This one looks much more comprehensive.
I've started making the tree frog out of scrap yarn. I made a leg haha. Didn't have a pipe cleaner so I sewed in twisty ties from a bag of garbage bags. The frog looks really difficult but after reading through the pattern a few times I think its actually going to be quite simple, just a bit time consuming. FUN!!!!

what you do to make an adjustable circle for you begginers out there is:
1 wrap your yarn around 2 fingers leaving a long tail.
2 crochet the specified # of stitches nto the ring and pull the tail to close the ring tightly.
3 trim tail and keep going on your project!

Before you trim the tail though, be sure to weave it through (backwards) some of the sts worked into the ring, to "lock" it in place...it'd be awful if it started to pull apart. Okay, so I'm a tad obsessive :) (if it's an ami, you can usually get away with tying a knot right at the base of the ring after you tighten it, and leave the tail attached (free stuffing)

I have a collection of little frogs going that my family contributes to on special occasions. The shelves they sit on are now called " The Swamp".
Here's one that is realistically shaped. Minus the wings if you want. Also has a link to a lily pad pattern:
