I just found out that my best friend here in the usa (i'm from canada) is pregnant with her second baby!!! :cheer:clap:c9 I want to work on a blanket but am not an advanced crocheter yet. I'm still in the beginner stages. I have 8 months to get this done. She won't know for another 15+ weeks what the sex is. I will do a practise blanket in purple and give it to my dd for her dolls. It doesn't have to be a big blanket. I was thinking maybe one that would fit nicely in the carseat since it is an October baby.:manyheart

The pattern I've used the most all my life has been a basketweave pattern. It's very easy. Because you start in a corner...work your way to the center...and then back to the final corner...it makes a perfectly square blanket. The border, is of course, up to you. Shells are always awesome.
