After learning to crochet only a week ago, my son has created this:

http://www.cenla.net/riley/gal/spring05/Mvc_088s.thumb.jpg (http://www.cenla.net/riley/spring05/Mvc_088s)

He finished the scarf on Saturday (no pattern) and the hat on Sunday, using this pattern (http://www.angelfire.com/wv/happyghan/twinstitch.html). :clap:clap:clap:clap

He's now working on a pair of gloves! :eek

After he's done w/ the gloves, he's planning to make a scarf, hat and mittens for each of his sisters.

He said he's even got some of his classmates interested in 'the ways of the hook!' :rofl

That is great :clap .

It is always good to see the boys doing it also. Here is an article about a class in our town, where they are all crocheting and loving it.

I am showing it to you, as the picture has boys in it.

Congratulations...hope your letting your son see how impressed we all are with him :hug

How'd you get him interested in crocheting? I can barely even get my son to look at the stuff I am making, much less get him interested in learning :P

That's wonderful!

My 5 year old wants to learn to crochet. I've been trying to teach her, but I haven't gotten past the chain yet. She's got a bad case of "I couldn't do it on the first try, so I'm just going to give up" going on.

Well, we know someone who has the #1 Mom of the moment in the bag. I can't believe you got your preteen (?) son into crochet. Woman, you are brilliant.

Well, honestly, it kinda started as a punishment.
Dealing w/ this age has me :bang:rant:thair:bang:cry.
I tried to get creative w/ some discipline... he said he wanted to knit, not crochet (only cuz I can't knit ;) )
and I said, well, as punishment, you're going to learn to crochet.

I didn't have to do anything but show him the chain. That's all I wanted him to do, really!
Then he asked about sc, and then dc... and then, a project!
