I see such cute patterns for little girls and baby girls, but not to many for little boys.
My first grandchild :manyheart (a boy) will be here soon and I've made booties, and 2 blankets for him so far. However, I want to make something really special for him (and his parents), to be past down to the next child, generation . . .
Thanks so much

check CPC - they have several little boy outfits, sailor etc in the baby section.
I know shifio has a few boy clothes patterns but may be a little pricey
hope this helps!!

What about a personalized afghan. His name is something that is not going to change and he could take it with him where ever he goes.:crocheting

Crazy crochet has an excellent idea!
I crocheted my nephew's son a baby afghan and I put their last name on it!
They really loved it!

My neice had a baby just before christmas.. her and her husband are BIG baseball fans.. in fact they have seen 11 different Major League baseball teams play at the ML stadiums... so for their son I used a cross stitch Pattern and crocheted a baseball field for the center.. I made blocks for each one of the teams they had seen to go around the outside with the Team Logo/ Initials in the team colors ... (for example LA, NY both, C, T, etc) this is something that Isaac can keep even when he is grown...
If there is something that you know the parents are passonate about then try to transfer it to a gift for the son...

This week I finished a hooded baby blanket for my friend's newborn. You could use colors more commonly seen for boys if you wanted, and even put a name on it.
I used the free pattern from the Lion Brand website.
