Opinions for pillow flower wanted

I'm making my Mom and Step Mom each the pillow from the newest Crochet Today with the flowers. They will each be blue with tan flowers and edging, and I'm using Sugar'n Cream/Peaches'n Cream. For some reason, the flowers just are not lovely! Is it the yarn? Is it my lack of skill? Can anyone suggest another flower pattern that might look nice please~and should I then still make the leaves with the original pattern? *THANKING Y'ALL!* (((((HUGS))))) sandi

You could try the same leaves, and see if you like how it looks. The reason the flowers aren't coming out is most likely the difference in fibers. The pattern calls for wool, and the cotton is just not going to work up the exact same; it doesn't have the same bounce. But I think it's great that you changed it up and that you're willing to alter it for what you're working with. I would also go look at flowers on CPC, even if they are part of an outfit, not just by themselves.
