Hi everyone, I'm pretty new so I hope its ok if I ask for some advice!
I have a friend that is having her first baby in September! I was thinking about crocheting her a nice baby blanket to welcome her new arrival. I have seen TONS of blanket patterns so not looking to fine a specific pattern, but just wondered what your favourite baby blanket pattern is. I have a few in mind but just wondered what everyone else thought!

Same here! It took me a little over a week to do one that was roughly 36" point to point

my favorite pattern is the afghan of the sandman from www.crochetgarden.com i seem to always have one in progress. it has directions to make it custom sizes as well. my last one (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=75852) was pink. my current is done in white.

I agree, this is a gorgeous blanket. It was the pictures of Nadine's blanket that prompted me to purchase the pattern.
I purchased white Modea baby yarn which is being discontinued and was on sale, to make a christening blanket for my Son and daughter-in-law when they have their first child.

So far it's the Dream Puff Baby Afghan (http://www.knitting-crochet.com/crochet/snoflacap.html) (scroll down a bit) but I've really only done a few different baby blankets so far. Ask me again in a few months and I'm sure I'll have a new favorite. :hook

My favorite is Crochetville's own Kim Guzman's personalized baby blanket. It is the standard baby gift I give, the color combo's are endless and it does work up fast. There is a tutorial on Kim's site to help you through. I love it.

I think I have made more round ripples than anything. Easy pattern and easy to memorize. They're always a hit.

I have two favorites: chromium star blanket http://thekidneybean.wordpress.com/crochet-patterns/chromium-star-blanket/
and bubbles baby blanket http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/patterns/bubbles_baby_blanket.php
These both go really fast.

This (http://promotions.drgnetwork.com/newsletters/talkingcrochet/pages/TCNL2507_patt.html) worked up quickly for me, just keep going until you get the size you want then start the decreases.

I hadn't seen that one before (that I remember!) and I love it. Thanks for posting the link. I'm really "hooked" on Aggie May's rr. I try to make it about 40" pt to pt so that the baby can use it as he/she grows.

I have to agree with the round ripple. You can make them up quickly and you can put any kind of edge on it.

I think I mentionned earlier that Aggie Mays rr is my favorite. I do like the bubbles baby blanket too. It is very easy and beautiful too. Pattern is here http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/patterns/bubbles_baby_blanket.php[/URL] .
Here's one I did. I used pink and white. I used one strand of pink throughout the entire project and every 5 or so rows I substituted one strand of white for one of the pinks. Hope you enjoy.

I'm about halfway finished with the Tiramisu Baby Blanket. The stitch is incredibly easy. Just single crochet. I've already tested the border and it's easy too. Good for a beginner and the blanket is just beautiful.
I'm using Lion Brand Pound of Love in a mint green and an N hook. I'm dying to make another one and this one isn't even finished yet! :hook
