I have been searching and searching the the Six-Pointed Star Afghan...online and ebay and anywhere else I can think of and cannot locate a copy. I know there are other similar star patterns, but i just really love the look of this one. My son just made the travel hockey team which happens to the called the Stars and I would love to make this afghan for him in the team colors.
I even wrote to Annie's Attic. The response I received this morning is posted below. :cry
Would anyone have a copy they would be willing to sell or do not want or can you point me to somewhere I can purchase a copy?
Thank you,
Mary

RESPONSE FROM ANNIE'S ATTIC INQUIRY I MADE:
Good afternoon Mary,
Thank you for your recent request for patterns offered in a past back issues
and catalogs Six-Pointed Afghan by Sandra J.Smith leaflet #87A50 (1983
copyright).
We are sorry to inform you that the pattern(s) you are seeking is/are sold
out and are no longer available for sale. We have no plans to restock the
item(s) currently and we cannot provide the information you are requesting.
You may be able to acquire the pattern on one of the On-line auctions sites, but be sure that the seller has a good rating and that they are offering an original print of the pattern and not a scanned or photocopy as the pattern is under copyright.
We appreciate your interest in our patterns and publications.
Sincerely,
Marj Morgan

:cheerHere is a Simple 6 pointed Star you are welcome to use.
I wrote it myself.
You are very welcome to use it to make items for sale and you are welcome to give the pattern to anyone else, just do not sell the pattern.
6 Pointed Star.
Because I don’t know what weight of yarn you will use, I cannot recommend the amount. It will also depend on how large you want to make the star.
Just be sure to use the recommended hook size for the yarn you choose.
Abbreviations:
CH = Chain.
SL ST = Slip Stitch.
DC = Double Crochet. (US)
SP = Space.
To start.
CH4 and join with a SL ST to form a ring.
Row 1:
CH3, (stands and 1DC) 1DC into loop, *CH2, 2DC into loop* repeat * to * 4 times more, CH2, join with a SL ST to the top of the CH3 from the start of the row. (6 CH2 SPs)
Row 2:
SL ST into first DC and into CH2 SP, CH3, 2DC, CH2, 3DC into same SP, *3DC, CH2, 3DC into next CH SP* Repeat * to * 4 times more. (6 Points)
Row 3:
SL ST into next DC, CH3, *1 DC into next DC (3DC, CH2, 3DC) all into next CH SP, 1DC into next 2DC, SK next 2DCs, 1DC into next DC,* Repeat * to * to end of the row, where you end with 1DC into next DC. (There will be 1DC and the starting CH not worked into and this is how it should be.) Join as before.
Every row from now on starts and finishes the same as Row 3 but has the extra DCs worked on the sides of the peaks and valleys.
You ALWAYS work 3DC, CH2, 3DC into every point and ALWAYS SK the same 2 STs on every row. All the others are just a DC into a DC.
As long as you take care of these two things, the rest will take care of itself.

Hope you enjoy this pattern.
Have fun.

PS, Hope it is OK to post it here.

Well, I'm rather shock to hear the message you received because back in February 2008 I was told by Annie's Attic that it was being reworked and the pattern would be in the July catalog because they have had so many requests for it. I will contact them again today and I'll be curious to see what they tell me and will let you know.

Thanks Pat. I knew I had read somewhere in my searching around the net for the pattern that someone had said Annie's was going to reissue it. I even put it on my calendar! It must have been your post I read. I emailed the to double check because I thought I could sit back and just wait for the catalog to come out.
It will be interesting to see the reply you get this time. :think
Let us know and good luck!

Mary, I bought the pattern last summer. I searched today and couldn't find any on ebay, but keep coming back, they seem to be there often. I paid $15.00 with shipping. I know its a lot, but I really wanted it, so I ponied up.
Good luck!

I sent a e-mail back to the woman who had written me and told her what you were told and I'll let you know what they say. I know how much you want that pattern because I wanted it just as bad and that's how I found Crochetville. I'll let you know as soon as I get a response.
Shebop, you are lucky you got it for $15. I saw that pattern go for $75.00. I bid on a couple of them but quit as $25. I also quit bidding when I noticed the same couple of people were the ones selling it. I had read that they were selling copies and not the original pattern.
Well let's keep our fingers crossed that Annie's is bringing it back out.

I guess that one is really hard to find. But I inherited that pattern from a friend who used to go to the Library. There was a crochet group there. My friend's daughter gave me all her patterns and I couldn't believe that pattern was in there.

It's copyrighted in 1983 so you are VERY lucky to have stumbled across it. :yay
I'm waiting for my luck with it to come along on ebay or for Annie's Attic to really end up putting it back in their catalog.

Ladies, here is the response I received today from Annie's along with her response when I sent her the answer to her question "who told you".
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa It's on the way
Hi Pat!
I am so sorry someone told you that! Do you remember who you spoke to? I just spoke to the catalog merchandising director, who said:
"It has been restitched and rephotographed and sent to the catalog graphic designer. I can tell you that it is 100% ready to go for July and will be in the catalog. I even told purchasing to buy lots of it!"
I'll make sure I send a reminder to customer service that we ARE featuring this pattern in the July catalog!
Thank you for letting me know this. Keep a watch!
Dear Pat,
Thanks for replying! Marj is our pattern service manager, and I guess that is a standard template she uses. She mainly helps people with their pattern problems.
I'm letting her know that the pattern is coming out in July, and that way she'll be apprised. I wish there was a way to let you know ahead of time--are you getting the Annie's Attic promotions via e-mail? Those will let you know when the new catalog has been posted on the Web, and then you can go ahead and order. If there is a problem, just let me know.
Have a good rest of the week!

My mom bought that pattern years ago. She never made it so she gave me the pattern. I haven't made it yet either and it sits in storage where I can't get to it.
It's nice to know a much sought after pattern is going to be available to the public again.

I know I have this pattern. It's always when you need something, you can't find it but when you don't , it stares you right in the face. I hate that. I'll keep looking.
