I posted for help on the six pointed star afghan and everyone rallied to help....I even pm'd some people for tips....Cherri even re wrote some ofthe pattern and forwarded it to me.....
I used an "f" hook for the middle and like "h" hook for the star...
STILL BUCKLED!!!!!
I am certain it is the "skip 3" on the end of the white star...
I LOVE this pattern....I have never restarted 4 times FROGGED....I am absolutely S I C K
I put it away for two weeks now....
I am so discouraged.......
Any suggestions?

The buckling should come out when you block the afghan.
Just use the same size hook throughout.

I agree, it may buckle while small but when it gets some size on it it will start to lay flat. How many rnds did you do when it buckled? I know the 5 point star looks like the points start to wave around with the wrong yarn.

:thinkWhich 6 pointed star pattern are you using?

:thinkAre you trying to do the 6 to 24 pointer from the original pattern?

That pattern does have a problem with buckling but I made a pattern for a Simple 6 Pointed Star which has shorter points so is easier to keep flat.

Here is a picture of the progression of the 6 to 24 that I made.

This is the progression of my version of the original 6 to 24 pointer.

I just used the centre Star and continued using DCs instead of changing to SC as the pattern did.

I have not written these patterns because they are easy to do but hard to write down.

You need to change what you do on the points as you create more of them because when there is only 6 points, they are very sharp but as you add the next row, it becomes more like the regular RR, then you add the 3rd lot of points and it changes again so you need to increase less in each point.
The SKed stitches are always just SK2.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Have fun.

PS, Of course, you may just want to do the 6 pointer, in that case, PM me and I will send it to you. It is the centre of the top one.

:cheerI have PMed you too.

My two afghans are based on the Annies Attic pattern, which I do have, but because of the Copyright, I cannot send it to anyone.

As I said, I cannot even send you the pattern for my version because it is too hard to write out without tearing out all of my hair and I am too old to grow more hair at this stage, except maybe on my face in a few years time.:eek

I see on the CAL others have worked out how to add extra points to the Simple 6 Pointed Star pattern which I have written so maybe you can do the same.

Have fun.

I plan to order the pattern from Annies however I'd like to order the yarn at the same time, the discription doesn't say. I'd like to get it all at once so I can start right when I get the pattern. I'm planning to make it in progressive yellows to oranges like a sunset.

I bought the pattern at e-patterns and the yarn at Knitting-Warehouse can't wait for the yarn to arrive so I can get started.
