Brave New Bra Top

I'm far less excited to show this off now that I know my credit card info. was stolen purchasing the pattern (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7888)! :ohdear Thanks, Xantha, for giving us all the heads up.

Anyway, I made this halter from Interweave's 2004 Crochet edition. The top was designed by Margaret Hubert. I used Lily's Sugar'n Cream in cornflower.

I hope to update this thread with photos of my friend, Danica, who is the recipient of this top.

sjkmaurice: I didn't line the cups. And, to be honest, between the F hook, the ww cotton, and the sc, I don't think coverage will be an issue with this top, or at least the cups!

Alisha: Good question re: the Sugar'n Cream. I have a "fancy" ww cotton that I purchased (http://csabers.blogspot.com/2005/04/comfort-pack.html) to make Donna's comfort packs (http://www.crochetme.com/Apr_May_2005/patt_comfort_pack.html). I liked the colors; however, the feel wasn't that superior to the SNC and I didn't like the way it split when I worked it. Anyway, I decided to stop being a yarn snob and give the SNC a go. Since the weight is a little heavier than the Patons Grace (what the pattern called for), I made the smallest side to get a "M" size with an F hook. Did it work? Well, the measurements seem correct, but I haven't seen the top on my friend yet. I'll let you know! (Wow - that was probably more than you needed to know, eh? :lol)

Janetta: I love your top! What yarn did you use? It's very, very pretty! I liked making the top, but I'd never wear it! Your daughter is very brave! Nice work!

Would you believe that I finally found an old issue at a store I went to? I snapped it up real quick, and it was marked $2.00 off! They had a second one. I knew I should have grabbed that one as well. Sigh. I'll try and go see if they still have it next month when I go down to MD again.

Thanks ! If my memory serves me right..((which it doesn't much these days)) I used "Saucy". I got it at the local knitting shop. It was 100% mercerized cotton..I DO remember that! lol

As for my daughter being brave...She's 16 going on 25 ! It's keeping her looking halfway decent that seems to be the problem! ((Only kidding! She's really a great girl !))

I wouldn't dare wear it either... unless I had the body of my 16 year old! :D

Anyway..keep up the great work ! It's good to see the comparisons between our bra tops! :cheer

I found the pattern really easy to follow. I don't think I had to frog anything!! You'll note I opted to do the shell pattern through the entire bottom of the top rather than follow the open rows on the pattern.
