Pineapple Royale: A new design

I got to thinking that every good doily designer should have a couple pineapple doilies in their portfolio. So I decided to add another one to mine.
I am calling this one Pineapple Royale. I thought it looked a bit like crowns around the edge, hence the name. It is done in size 10 thread Wedgewood blue. I used my 7/1.65mm hook. It measures 15 inches across.
So what do you think of my pineapple doily?

I like how it feels open but not fragile. I also like how the "crowns" are placed; like they draw the pineapples together. It's beautiful and quite regal :)

I am not super keen on pineapples, but I really like this one. I love the Wedgewood Blue colour, too. The medallion in the middle is beautiful and the crowns quite "royale" :)

The edge does look like crowns--very cool. When I saw the title of the thread, though, I thought: "What? Kathy's making *pineapples*?" I know it's not your thing, but I follow your reasoning. It's a lovely design, and pineapples are always in need of a little fresh treatment.

I'm not normally a pinaple fan (at least not the crochet kind... :D) but wow! I love the "crown" bits that pull it all together. It's simple but complex and elegant all at the same time. Beautiful.

This is only the second pineapple doily I have done. Normally I concentrate on my other ideas since there are a lot of pineapple doilies out there already. But I like to challenge myself and I wanted to see what I could do with one. I actually have a couple other ideas for pineapples floating around in my mind. We shall see what come of them...

In your creating sometime could you come up with a tabletopper with a grape design. I can't find one I really like and you do such beautiful designs. Maybe someday in your spare (ha ha) time.

My dear grandmother taught me to crochet. I was only 4 at the time and, bless her heart, she taught me with thread and steel hooks! My "learning piece" was a small pineapple coaster. Ever since, there is a special place in my heart for any and all pineapple patterns. I love them. And I love this one.....it is just gorgeous, Kathy.
