Please read this thread (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61285) for our online class policies and general information about online class registration and payment. This FAQ will address some of the more common questions new students have about online classes. Please feel free to post any other questions you have in this thread.

How do I find my class?
There is a forum called Classrooms (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=159) on the main page (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/../) of our site in the Online Classes (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=155) section. All classrooms will be found in the Classrooms (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=159) forum. You will only be able to see your classroom after you have registered for class and your payment has been completed.

What time does my class start?
The teacher will post the initial class material on the scheduled first day of class. The time the material is posted may vary depending on the teacher's schedule.

How does the online class format work?

Lesson Materials/Q&A Thread: The teacher will post the first week's lesson materials in this thread. The teacher may upload a pdf file that students can download or the teacher may include all the lesson text and photos within the thread. Students post any questions or comments, including photos of their own work, for the teacher in the this thread. The teacher will visit the classroom at least once each day to answer questions. Most classes will NOT contain video tutorials, although there may be still-photo tutorials. If you have any questions about how the class material will be presented, please post a note in the class information thread in this folder (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=158).
Chit Chat Thread: The teacher may also start a thread where students can chit-chat back and forth with each other. This is just a fun, informal thread to help build group spirit. Any questions for the teacher about the class should be posted in the other thread.
Weekly Lesson Material/Q&A Threads: If the class is a multi-week class, the teacher will post new lesson material each week on the same day of the week on which the class started. The teacher may choose to close the previous weeks lesson thread as soon as the thread for the current week is opened.

When do I have to be in the classroom?
You do not have to be in the classroom at any specific time. You may visit your classroom any time to read class material, post questions for the teacher, read teacher responses, and participate in student discussions.

Do I have to be online each day for class or is this something I can do at my own leisure?
Your class experience may be more enjoyable if you are able to visit your classroom every day, but you may visit at whatever frequency best fits your schedule. For classes with many students, there could be many messages posted each day in the lesson thread and the chit-chat thread. Daily visits to the classroom may make it easier to keep up with these messages.

How long will the class material be available?
Class material will be available two weeks after the last scheduled day of class. After two weeks, all class material will be removed. We regret we are unable to send out any class material to a student after a class has closed.

Can I pay for several classes with a single payment?
Due to the way our subscription payment system works, you will need to register and pay separately for each class. For more information on registration, click here (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61284).

Do I need any special software for the class?
Some teachers may post a pattern or class lessons in pdf format. You will need a pdf reader program to read these files. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free on the Adobe website (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html?promoid=BUIGO).

Amy, If a class is closed, can one be put on an alternative list?

Amy, If a class is closed, can one be put on an alternative list? We don't have waiting lists set up for classes, but if a class is popular, it will most likely be offered again in the future. We're always interested in hearing from all of you about classes, so please do let us know which ones you'd like to see offered again!

We accept payment for classes through Paypal. If you don't have a credit card, you could set up a Paypal account and pay with either a transfer from your Paypal balance or a bank account balance.

We don't have any free classes at the present time. Since students have to pay to take classes, we also can't make old class lessons available for free after a class is over.

We'll be offering classes throughout the year, so if you can't afford a class right now, perhaps you'll be able to save up enough money so you can take the class you want later in the year.

I am working on the May classes right now. You can click the Online Crochet Classes (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/classes.php) link (in the dark blue navigation bar at the top of any forum page) to see a brief overview of current classes complete with photos. You can also access the 2009 Online Class Schedule here (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=89677); this thread is just text links to the various class description threads.

Registration will open on Wednesday, April 29.
