It is extremely difficult to write a pattern for a design like this in only one piece. I'm sure there is such a pattern out there, but it may be difficult to find

I'm almost positive I have that pattern somewhere, or at least something very like it.
I'll have to see if I can find it.

i made this afghan only doubled the initial base ch to make it sized for a twin bed, and you just dont do the second larger area and just repeat the honey comb and you will have the look of the one you showed. it is all one piece minus just the ribbed edge.

snugsmontreal,
Was the afghan you made the Priscilla Hewitt Aran Afghan? I have been looking for the completed size of this afghan forever. I love the way it looks and have wanted to make it but thought that it was pretty small, more like a coverlet.
What type of yarn did you use? How big did it work up? and how much yarn did you use? Thanks so much for your input.

yes that is the one i did but i did a little math and changed/added to the pattern to make it a size to accomidate a twin sized bed, i used a little less than 2 lbs of RHSS but mine was roughly twice the size (double the length and about 175% of the original width) as the original pattern as is

Hi There: That picture you are showing is done in panels, I have that book by Leisure Arts, the only difference is your picture is showing fringe and mine has braided cord around the afghan. It will be hard to get away without doing panels in either knitting or crocheting. All I can suggest is look for a Aran/Fisherman Knit pattern in a mens sweater pattern as they can go quite large and maybe the front of the sweater will have enough fancy aran stitch repeat in it for you without doing panels and go the length you need and add your fringe.
Have Fun

Hello; it is in Leisure Arts Leaflet 2604
Called: Pastel Patterns for Baby
Pillows, Blankets and Wraps by Carol Holding. The book looks like it was printed in 1994.

FYI for any one wanting to know I found the pattern in a book called quick crochet afghans it is called a bulky fisherman it is done in panels but oh well I guess I can't have it in one piece the book I found on Ebay it has the afghan on the cover also I found someone on Ebay selling a completed afghan and I asked her where she got the pattern she confirmed the name of the book.

Is the afghan in the book made with doubled yarn? I think the pattern I have that is most likely the same one as in the picture was made with double strands. I think, can't really remember.
Have a great day ya'll!!

I actually do have the pattern booklet with that specific pattern in it. It's designed by Carole Rutter Tippett.
If you'd like to have it you're welcome to it (just incase you didn't get my pm).
