I'm looking for patterns to make crocheted banks for older children. I've already looked around different sites in toys. Any suggestions?:think
Thanks so much in advance.

Do you mean the kind to save money in? Like a piggy bank? Is there a certain style, color or shape that you are looking for?

I would imagine taking a can (coffee can)or tube (like for potato chips) with a removable plastic lid and then covering the outside with crocheting would work....then just make a slit in the center of the lid! You could make all sorts of fancy stitching or add fridgies for decorations........

...you could also get a square box tissue/kleenex paper cover pattern, remove the tissues from the box, and put the coins into where the tissues would have come out...??? Sounds good to me :)

In Crochet World Jan/Feb 1991 issue there is a cute penguin with a little hat, a ballerina bear and a frog that is like a container with his mouth as the opening. The bear and the penguin take pringle cans for container. I think they are really cute, but i don't know what age your children are so? Also those pottie peekers some of them you could make into banks they might be what you want for older kids they have alot of different kinds horse, cat, seal policeman, fireman, hunter I haven't got to see all of then yet.

You could take TP covers and convert them into banks by adding a bottom and making a slit in the top for the coins. Using a small container inside to stabilize it.

Check out Crochet Pattern Central under Cozies and Covers. Here's a cute couple (http://www.christinascrochethaven.com/toilet_tissue_toppers.htm)

Remember to look under tp cozies, tp covers, toilet tissue cozies, toilet tissue covers, etc. as they are referred to as different names by different people.

My question: how do you get the money out when they are full?

The pottie peekers i am talking about are made with a 3 liter bottleand you just cut the top off or leave the cap on and hide it in the hair on certain ones.
