I saw a hat online that was crocheted and it looked like an old fashioned newspaper boy hat but had a hole in the back for a ponytail to come out. my son has a friend with long hair who loves hats and this would look soooo cute on her. it was sold for $40 but there was no contact info and it was sooo cute i can't say it enough.

anyone know where i can find the pattern or contact the designer to purchase a copy?

thanks!

I soooo am not good at doing anything crochet related unless it is all written out, but thanks for the links, I guess I'll give it a go.

maybe when you got the hat going and you get to the back part onthe rounds you can f igure out how high up you want the hole for the pony to go through then skip some stitches to make the hole then when you come back around skip them again that should be enough for a pony to fit through.:lol I dont know been thinking about it .:lol

you mean like slipstitch across to make the space? interesting thought. thanks!

ooh, or maybe make a chain to "replace" those stitches and then that will leave a spot to pull the ponytail through?

Thanks!

Thanks! I did a pattern search and found a hat that looked very similar to the one I saw. Wasn't really a newsboy hat but the brim had a really nice shape. It was a bit pricy for my liking but this girl is great so I bit the bullet and bought it. So now at some point I can play and try adjusting the pattern! :cheer

Now I have to find some really really bright and funky yarn for her. The funkier the better. I'm already going to do another one in a varigated of bright colors, so I'm thinking solid with stripes for this one for her.

None of my family or friends will understand why I am so excited over make a hole in a hat. :hook

Thanks again for the suggestions and leads.
