We went to a birthday party last night and had such a fabulous time! These friends are Jewish, and the men wear what is pronounced koo-LAY. They are thread caps with a fairly open weave that cover the head from above the ears up. I've searched the internet and can't even find the word~LOL! Any help would be much appreciated! I have never heard of a Kulee, but do know that the Jewish men wear a Yamika. I think this is smaller than what you are describing but maybe a search for a Yamika will yield some patterns that would work.
Happy 4th of July,

Thank you for your interest!!!! It does cover more than a yarmulke. I may have misrepresented them too~they would refer to themselves as "Hebrew"~please forgive me! The Kulee I've been told is hard to find. You can order from NY and sometimes find them in African stores... I would pay for an original pattern even! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

I think what you are looking for is a kufi. Here is one pattern but it's not thread.
