Does anyone have about 8 hours to try making this bolero I came up with. I was looking for one similar on Friday night in black and didn't have much luck, the store bought ones were so generic looking, I decided if I worked fast, I could have the cardigan done by Saturday afternoon (wedding). I did get it done in time and I loved the way it looked, I wore it with a black a line skirt and a dressy tank top like shirt. It brought the outfit together nicely. The second one I made was made of a rayon boucle yarn and it draped so nicely. The one pictured here is made with a mohair blend yarn that is sooo soft. I am wanting to sell my pattern on Ebay and typed up a version of it last night. I havent' added photos to the pattern yet, but plan to. If anyone can start working on this project right away and give me any feedback on it, I would really appreciate it.

Donna-

I am using the JA Rainbow Boucle and had to frog cause I missed a stitch, but I am almost done with the back piece. The patterns seems pretty straight forward and I hope to get it done this weekend. I will e-mail you with any "problems" I may have. This is a great pattern-thanks so much for letting me test it!

Such a friendly pattern! I'm using Paton's Brilliant in a chocolately brown with a bronze thread through it and it looks lovely. I decided to keep it shorter, so it's about waist length when finished, which should be this weekend. Am currently working the trim around the body, with only the armholes to go. This yarn drapes well, although not as much as your rayon boucle, of course! I'm thinking I'll add picot points to the shells on the final row of the bottom, and then put a bead of some sort to dangle from the picot point. It's on the dressier side of a crochet garment which is what I wanted, so a glass bead will add sparkle and enough weight to give it a bit more drape. Thanks again for such a lovely pattern, Nina Kate, and the chance to try it out! Very easy to understand and modify, too!

How encouraging to hear. :clap I'm glad that the pattern is straightforward. It was much harder to write it out than to actually make it. Your yarn sounds really nice, I think I'm familiar with it. How much of it you used? Can't wait to see your finished bolero!

Thanks,
Donna

Hi Donna,

The pattern is really very easy to follow. I tried it on and it is a nice snug fit. I am working on the trim, 3rd row. The only problem on the bottom my trim is ruffling. (Which is actually very pretty) Was I suppose to shell in every v stitch or every other v stitch? Donna:knit

You are supposed to do the shell stitch in every other v stitch. I am curious to see what the ruffling effect looks like. If you plan to frog it, please take a photo first.

Oh darn! I took it out already and on my fourth round. Almost done:cheer

May not finish this weekend after all, allergies giving me lots of eye troubles. But I've begun around one armhole. The body fits beautifully, close in but not tight, just sort of hovering around the body. Exactly what I envisioned! I did go ahead and put picots on the final lace round. Becaue this only comes to the waist, I only did four rounds of the shell lace, and the last round is a 2dc, picot, 2 dc.

Re the yarn, I"m nearly finished the third ball (140 yds ea.) and using an I hook loosely so the garment hangs nicely. It's a sport weight, 3, yarn. Will keep you posted.

I don't have a camera to take a picture and don't know anyone who does other than my brother. I was planning to wait until the bolero is finished, and meet him at work so he can take a picture for me and post it. I'm no longer savvy in the tech department, having retired 3 years ago and not kept up my skills. Believe me, I wish I DID have a way to do this, there's lots of uses I can find for taking a picture that I can post!

Sorry, I know you're anxious to see this ... mea culpa...

Hi Donna.

I finished the bolero today. Your pattern was a pleasure and easy to follow. I did figure out my mistake on the bottom trim. You are a speedy crocheter it took me a lot longer than 7 hours to make, but thats okay it was fun. I change only one thing. Since I made mine smaller I decided to make the sleeves snug fitting. (I skipped 2 rows instead of 1 row) And for the finishing touch I made a chain of 80 for a bow to keep it closed. I love this design soooo much that I am wearing it today! Thank you for letting me test! I attached 2 photos. Hopefully, I did this right. If you need a tester for that beautiful Adina, let me know! I would love to. www.laceydoily@hotmail.com (http://www.laceydoily@hotmail.com/)

I am smiling looking at the photos. You did a fabulous job! I think I am going to add a tie to mine (which I've worn at least 4 times already), I think it really shows the stitch pattern better when it is held closed. I love it and it looks great on you! What type of yarn did you use, and how much again? I am glad that you found the pattern to be easy to follow and I hope you use it again and again. Thanks so much for testing this pattern out for me :hug

Thank you Donna........I used Reynolds Cantata, it was an ebay purchase a few months ago. So glad that I had that yarn! I think I may of used around 700y. It is comfortable to wear I am still wearing, even though it is almost 90 degrees outside. Thank goodness for ac :) I'm thinking about making another one using cascade pearls in purple. Donna:hook

Hi Donna,
I love your bolero patterns. I have a question...do you add instrustions to your patterns to make for plus size? If not, would you please consider doing so? I love the crocheted tops and it is extremely difficult to find patterns in my size! I end up having to make adjustments and I'm just NOT that talented! :rolleyes
Please let me know about this...I'll love you forever! I promise! :manyheart

Well, since you promised to love me forever :manyheart ...both patterns can easily be adjusted to fit ANY size...yes, I said it....ANY size. My testers are telling me how "friendly" the pattern is. They are both listed on Ebay, my user name is MsSunflwr.

Hi
I finished the bolero last evening, sorry for the delay,my mom passed away unexpectedly:(
I used about 8 oz of red heart in cream.and it took me about 9 hrs.
I made the pattern with a starting chain of 90,and it fits my daugher (l-xl).
I didn't have any problems at all,I only done two rows for the sleeves.
i will try to get some photos tommorrow if I can get my daughter to model.
thanx for letting me be a tester.
